DECOMMISSIONING/DISPOSAL

6.6. Emergency operation

In the event of a failure of the unit, there are
various possibilities for providing emergency
operation.
DANGER due to poisonous substances!
During emergency operation, there is poten-
tial for contact with fluids that represent a
health hazard. The following points must be
observed without fail:
• Wear appropriate full-body protection as well
as protective goggles and mouth protection.
• After use, the diaphragm hand pump as well
as the hoses used (in flexible installation)
must be flushed through with clean water and
disinfected.
• If the lifting unit overflows, the unit and
the operating space as well as all flooded
components must be thoroughly cleaned and
disinfected.
• Immediately wipe up drips.
• Channel the flushing water into the sewer
system at suitable points!
• The protective clothing and cleaning cloths
must be disposed of acc. to waste code
TA 524 02 and EC Directive 91/689/EEC, or acc.
to local directives!
6.6.1. Overflow of the lifting unit
The lifting unit is overflow‑proof, and can contin-
ue to be operated even in overflowed condition.
The following limit values must not be exceeded:
• Max. flooding height: 2 mWS,
• Max. flooding time: 7 days.
NOTE
The mounted switchgear/plugs are not over-
flow‑proof. To ensure operation of the unit
even in the event of an overflow, the electrical
connections must be installed at a suitably high
level!
6.6.2. Level control defective
If the level control is defective, the collection
reservoir can be emptied in manual operation.
For information about this, refer to the "Manual
operation" section.
6.6.3. Failure of the lifting unit
If the lifting unit fails completely, the sewage in
the collection reservoir can be pumped into the
pressure pipe using the diaphragm hand pump.
1.
Close the gate valve in the inlet.
2.
Close the gate valve in the pressure pipe.
3.
Pump the fluid out of the collection reservoir
into the pressure pipe using the diaphragm hand
pump. Also observe the operating instructions for
the diaphragm hand pump.
7. Decommissioning/disposal
• All work must be carried out with the greatest
care.
• Proper protective clothing is to be worn.

• When working in sumps, it is essential to comply
with the corresponding local protective measures.
For safety reasons, make sure a second person is
present at all times.
• Lifting equipment in perfect technical condition
and officially approved load‑bearing equipment
must be used for lifting and lowering the lifting
unit.
RISK of fatal injury due to malfunction!
Load-carrying and lifting equipment must be
in a perfect technical condition. Work may
only commence if the hoisting gear has been
checked and found to be in perfect working
order. If it is not inspected, fatal injuries may
result.

7.1. Switching off the unit

BEWARE of burns!
The motor housing can reach temperatures
well in excess of 40 °C. There is a risk of
burns! After switching off, first let the motor
cool down to ambient temperature.
1.
Close the gate valve in the inlet pipe.
2.
Drain the collection reservoir. To do this, switch
the unit on in manual operation using the manual
button for max. 12 seconds.
3.
Switch the lifting unit to standby mode via the
switchgear.
4.
Pull the plug out of the socket.
5.
Secure the unit against being unexpectedly
switched back on!
6.
Close the gate valve in the pressure pipe.
7.
Now it is possible to start the work of removal,
maintenance and putting into storage.

7.2. Removal

DANGER due to poisonous substances!
During removal, there is potential for contact
with fluids that represent a health hazard. The
following points must be observed without
fail:
• Wear appropriate full-body protection as well
as protective goggles and mouth protection.
• Immediately wipe up drips.
• All components must be cleaned and disin-
fected!
• Channel the flushing water into the sewer
system at suitable points!
• The protective clothing and cleaning cloths
must be disposed of acc. to waste code
TA 524 02 and EC Directive 91/689/EEC, or acc.
to local directives!
1.
Switch off the unit as described in the "Switching
off the unit" section.
2.
Close all gate valves.
3.
Open the non-return valve using the ventilation
device in order to drain the pressure pipe into the
reservoir.
