8. Ensure the fingers are straight and not bunched.
9. Align the cover finger holes with the digits of the hand (Fig. 33).
10. Pull down onto digits of the i-Limb hand.
11. Place thumb opening over thumb digit.
12. Pull the cover carefully over the remainder of the i-Limb hand, without applying too much pressure on the
thumb (Fig. 34).
13. Check the cover for bunching and make sure the cover tips are fully fitted to the digit tips.
14. Check the function of the i-Limb hand and ensure full opening and closing is possible and the digit tips align.
Doff ing all Covers
1. Bring the i-Limb hand into the same position as for donning and switch off/ to standby.
2. Pull the cover upwards on each digit to release.
3. Carefully ease the full cover off, without applying too much pressure on the thumb.
4. Continue to pull cover upwards, until fully removed.
MAINTENANCE
The prosthetist shall instruct end user to neither maintain nor service the i-Limb hand. Any problems with the
prosthetic device are to be reported to a clinician for service and maintenance. The end user is to be advised to
have the i-Limb hand serviced annually.
Return the i-Limb hand for annual service and repair to Össur. See address at end of this manual to locate
a regional Össur office.
A certified clinician may carry out the following maintenance:
Digit Installation
NOTE: i-Limb hands are only compatible with Össur digits.
To replace a digit, follow the steps below:
For extra small hands a T6 or T8 screwdriver is required, depending on the hand version.
For small, medium and large hands a T10 screwdriver is required.
Finger removal and replacement:
1. Ensure the i-Limb hand is switched off.
2. Use screwdriver to loosen the screw at the knuckle block and remove the digit (Fig. 35).
3. Select the appropriate sized replacement digit and follow the steps in reverse to replace.
4. For extra small hands the screw should be torqued to 1 Nm. For all other hand sizes, hand tighten the screw.
Thumb Removal and Replacement:
For extra small hands:
Use a T6 or T8 screwdriver to replace thumb, depending on the hand version.
1. Rotate thumb to palmar position, so it is parallel with index digit.
2. Remove index digit (Fig. 36).
3. Loosen thumb knuckle block screw (Fig. 37).
4. Remove thumb.
Replace the thumb following the steps in reverse ensuring thumb and index screws are torqued to 1 Nm.
For small, medium and large hands:
To replace the thumb on all other sized hands, use a T10 screwdriver and follow these steps:
1. Rotate the thumb to the lateral position.
