Electrodes
– Use same electrode type for myo-testing as in a user's definitive prosthesis.
– Fit electrode into the socket in the optimum position identified during myo-testing. The electrode must
remain in skin contact throughout the range of motion when using the prosthesis.
– Loss of contact between skin and electrode will result in inadequate control of the prosthesis.
– Do not set the electrode gains higher than "5".
Compact Electrodes
When assembling, the electrode cable must be cut straight and fully inserted into the IDC block to ensure proper
contact is achieved (Fig. 11). The grey side of the cable must be facing the outside.
Remote Electrodes
Assemble the remote electrode parts as follows (Fig. 12):
1. Electrode dome
2. Socket interface
3. Shake-proof washer
4. Eyelet
5. Nut
Middle cable on the electrode is the earth/ ground cable, secure to middle electrode dome.
Optimum remote electrode domes spacing is 8–10 mm from center to center.
NOTE: The domes may not touch.
Batteries
Only use Össur batteries, magnetic charge port, DC port or switch block components with the i-Limb hand.
Internal Batteries
Internal batteries are available with capacities of 1300 mAh or 2000 mAh.
The internal battery is designed to be positioned between the inner and outer socket. Ensure adequate space is
created during fabrication of the prosthesis by using the battery dummies.
If possible, create a flat surface within the outer socket for battery attachment using hook and loop tape.
External Powerpack Batteries
External powerpack batteries have a housing mounted on the outer surface of the prosthesis. Standard fabrication
processes and techniques should be followed, utilizing the housing dummies to create the necessary shaping to
accommodate the battery housing.
Magnetic Charger Port
Provide sufficient space for the port between the inner and outer sockets.
Use the port fabrication dummy during outer socket fabrication. The dummy consists of 3 parts (Fig. 13):
Dummy 1: is the thickest dummy. Use to ensure sufficient clearance within the outer socket/ frame for the port.
Dummy 2: has the central hole. Creates the step to recess the port.
Dummy 3: is the ring. It is used after lamination to create the necessary hole.
Positioning Dummies
6. Position the dummies in the desired location during preparation for final lamination (Fig. 14).
7. Dummy 1 should be recessed within the outer socket/ frame build-down.
8. Position dummy 2 prior to applying final two fabric layers.
9. Laminate as normal (Fig. 15).
Removing Dummies
1. Once laminated, grind surface to expose dummy.
2. Drill through central hole of dummy 2 (Fig. 16).
