Positioning the sand hopper

The sand hopper is connected to the hand piece with a swivel connection. This swivel
connection allows you to position the sand hopper for sand blasting on either vertical or
horizontal surfaces.

To position the sand hopper (1) for sand blasting on a horizontal surface, rotate the swivel joint
to position the sand hopper (Fig. 7). To position the sand hopper for sand blasting on a vertical
surface, rotate the swivel joint to position the sand hopper (Fig. 8).

Note: It is important to position the sand hopper in an upright position in order for the sand to
flow freely during operation.

Vacuum cleaner operation
The amount of vacuum being applied to the hand piece can be regulated on most household

vacuum cleaners. To ensure maximum vacuum, close the regulator valve in the vacuum
cleaner wand. To reduce the vacuum, open the regulator valve.

Controlling the force of the sand blasting process
Use maximum vacuum for the most forcible sand blasting action. Paint and rust removal
require forcible action.

Use a reduced vacuum for a more delicate sand blasting action. Etching glass and matting
jewelry require a delicate action. Opening the vacuum cleaner regulator valve will reduce the

vacuum.
Vacuum cleaner maintenance

Maintaining the vacuum cleaner will produce maximum efficiency of the sand blasting process.
Before sand blasting, place a new clean bag in the vacuum cleaner.
Note: If sand blasting effectiveness diminishes during the process, check that the bag is not too
full of sand. If it is, put the excess sand from the bag into a clean container for re-use.

• Assemble the hand piece and lance (Fig. 6).
• Add sand to the sand hopper and rotate the sand hopper to the appropriate position for
horizontal or vertical sand blasting (Fig. 5-8).
• Place the vacuum cleaner wand into the hand piece (Fig. 4).
• Lightly press the hand piece vacuum seal onto the surface to be sand blasted.
• Turn the vacuum cleaner on.
Note: When the vacuum seal is made, you will feel the hand piece being held onto the work
surface by the vacuum.
• Aim the lance towards the area to be sand blasted.
