- Turn the starter switch to ON by rotating it clockwise by
90° (FIG. A-5).
- Turn the ignition switch (or key) of the vehicle or boat to
ON. Wait about one minute. Turn the vehicle ignition to
the start position for no more than 3÷4 seconds. If the
vehicle or boat does not start, wait at least 3 minutes
before trying again.
Warning: Do not allow the black and red clamps to
come into contact or to touch a common conductor.
While the engine is running, follow the whole sequence of
instructions below with great care:
1.
Switch off the starter: switch to OFF position.
2.
Disconnect the black (negative) clamp from the
vehicle.
3.
Disconnect the red (positive) clamp from the vehicle.
4.
Return the clamps to their housing.
We advise recharging the SPEED START as soon as
possible.
Using the SPEED START as a power supply:
- Take the top off the cigar-lighter type socket (FIG. A-1).
- Insert the cigar-lighter plug of the device to be powered
into the socket as in fig. A-1.
RECHARGING
Important! To protect the battery and lengthen its
working life, charge it for 12 hours before using it for
the first time, then every time it is used and at least
every 3 months.
The unit can be recharged using a 230VAC power supply
(using the appropriate power supply adapter) or using
a 12VDC power supply. We recommend keeping the
battery fully charged at all times. A low charge level could
shorten the life of the battery. Bear in mind that the time
needed to recharge the battery depends on the number
of times it has been used as a starter. To check whether
the battery needs recharging, position the switch in fig.
A-8 to ON.
The LEDs seen in Fig. A-2 indicate the charge status of
the battery, with the following meaning:
-
: the battery is very flat;
-
: the battery is fully charged.
Return the switch in fig. A-8 to "OFF".
The red "Charging" LED in fig. A-6 lights up when the
unit is recharging.
Recharging using a 230V AC power supply
WARNING: Use the supplied power supply adapter
only and exclusively for recharging the SPEED
START.
1-
First insert the power supply adapter plug (FIG. B-4)
into a 230VAC socket.
Then insert the corresponding output plug (FIG. B-5)
into the recharging socket (FIG. A-4).
2-
Make sure that the switch in fig. A-5 is turned to
"OFF".
3-
The "Charging" LED comes on and the starter is
in recharge mode. The LEDs seen in Fig. A-2 also
come on to indicate the charge status reached:
when the last GREEN LED comes on the charge
process is complete and the battery charger can be
removed; however the SPEED START is equipped
with a control device that prevents overcharging of
the battery and the power unit. Leave the system to
recharge for as long as necessary.
Recharging on board the vehicle using a 12V DC
power supply:
WARNING:
operation with the engine running.
1-
Insert the power cord with the cigarette lighter
plug (FIG. B-7) into the 12 VDC, cigarette lighter
receptacle on your vehicle or boat.
2-
Insert the power cord with the proper plug (FIG. B-8)
into the recharge receptacle (FIG. A-4) and make
sure the switch in fig. A-5 is "OFF".
3-
The "Charging" LED lights up and the starter is being
recharged.
NOTE: this function allows to maintain the charge in the
starter during a journey and may not charge the battery
to its maximum.

BATTERY DISPOSAL
After the battery in the Start System has expired, it should
be recycled. Some states require this recycling. Contact
your local solid waste authority for recycling information.
WARNING: Do not dispose of by fire. This could result in
an explosion. Before disposing of battery, cover exposed
terminals with heavy duty electrical tape to prevent
shorting. Do not expose battery to intense heat or fire as
this could cause an explosion.
