Note!
The following times apply for the respective
device motor output class (see rating plate) with
run-up/expiry as well as speed changes in order
to to avoid high component loads and faults in
the converter operation:
Device motor output
Motor output < 0.25 kW
0.25 kW < Motor output
<= 3.0 kW
3.1 kW < Motor output
<= 7.5 kW
7.6 kW < Motor output
<= 11.0 kW
11.1 kW < Motor output
<= 30 kW
A uniform run-up and expiry must be guaranteed within the
run-up and expiry times.
No speed changes must occur during operation that exceed
the speed change during run-up and expiry.
Protection by residual current circuit breakers (FI-circuit
breakers):
The current IGBT frequency converters inherently produce
leakage currents > =3.5 mA. These leakage currents can
lead to false alarms in systems that are fused using a 30 mA
FI-circuit breaker.
In the event of a fault, residual current can also leak as direct
current via the protective conductor. If protection is required
on the supply side by means of a FI-circuit breaker, it is im-
portant that an FI-circuit breaker is used that is sensitive to
universal current (type B). The use of an incorrect FI-circuit
breaker other than type B can lead to death or serious injury
in the event of a fault. The protective conductor must be de-
signed to connect twice via isolated terminals or via a protec-
tive conductor cross-section with a minimum of 10 mm
comply with the EN61800-5-1 standard.
Operation and connection to public power supply net-
works:
Most frequency converters are designed to operate on indus-
trial grids. If the converter is connected directly to and oper-
ated on a public grid, then additional interference suppres-
sion measures, such as a mains choke, must be built into the
mains feeder. For further information, refer to the converter
manufacturer's specifi cations.

5 MAINTENANCE INFORMATION

5.1 Basic Instructions
An Elektror ATEX blower must only be used for its intended
purpose (see 1.1) before and after maintenance/servicing
work and the repair and replacement of components.
Make sure that the blower impeller has come to a standstill
and the blower has been secured reliably against it being
accidentally restarted before beginning any maintenance/
servicing work and repairing or replacing components. For
example, the power supply must be interrupted and ideally
disconnected.
No explosion hazard is permitted to exist or occur during in-
spection, cleaning, maintenance or repair work.
Wearing parts are subject to the recommended maintenance
intervals (see 5.1 to 5.5 ). The service life of wearing parts
(ball bearings and fi lters) is dependent on the operating
hours, loading and other infl uences, such as temperature,

Measures as well as maintenance and servicing itself must
only be carried out by appropriately qualifi ed persons who
undergo regular training. The following must be observed in
addition to the operating instructions of the respective device
as well as the regulations and recommendation for the com-
plete system:
Inspection and maintenance intervals:
The machine operator should determine the cleaning, in-
spection and maintenance interval depending on the operat-
ing hours, loading and operating conditions.
Immediate inspection and maintenance:
In the event of vibrations, oscillations and a reduced air out-
put.
Note!
Repairs must be carried out by the manufacturer.
In the case of repairs, we assume no liability for
changes or the replacement of components by
third parties.
The following must be carried out at every inspection /
maintenance as well as with the repair and replacement
of components:
• Visual inspection of moving blower parts in particular, such
as the impeller, blower housing cover / inlet nozzles, with
regard to possible damage, stress marks, wear and tear,
cracks, breakages, deformities, the good condition of
earthing points, radial shaft sealing rings etc.
• Inspection of the annular gap between the impeller nozzles
and the inlet nozzles on the blower cover.
ATEX machine type S-HP 470/35:
Gap of at least 3.0 mm
All other S-HP-ATEX machine types:
Gap of at least 2.0 mm
• If ATEX blowers are held in stock as reserve devices, it
is important to note that the devices contain certain com-
ponents that only have a limited shelf life. This relates to
the ball bearings in particular, for example, with regard to
the operating life of the lubrication. This is dependent on
the type of bearings and devices, as well as the conditions
in which and the duration for which the Elektror product
is stored. The Elektror Product management team can
provide information depending on the type.
• Inspection and maintenance work that is carried out must
be documented chronologically on an ongoing basis, pro-
viding information about the work carried out. Any break-
downs, action taken and compliance with all the applicable
regulations and manufacturer's instructions must be docu-
mented. It is recommended that this documentation is re-
corded in a log book and kept in a safe place.

5.2 Ball Bearings

The blower is equipped with closed grooved ball bearings
that do not have to be relubricated and have a minimum ser-
vice life of 20,000 hours in the case of horizontal drive shafts.
This value halves when they are installed vertically.
We recommend that the ball bearings are replaced before
exceeding the service life, minimum 20,000 hours. The op-
erating period of 24 months should not be exceeded during
continuous operation/use 24 hours a day.
5.3 Seals and Radial Shaft Sealing Rings
Sealing components and radial shaft sealing rings should be
replaced for safety reasons at least at every maintenance
and when components are repaired and replaced if the seal-
ing elements are opened, removed or changed in any other
way. The potential equalisation must be checked at every
maintenance and be in a good condition when this is com-
