Operating and assembly instructions S-MP ATEX
2.2 Storage
• Ensure that the air intake connection and pressure
connection are closed.
• Store the blower
EN
-> in its original packaging if possible
-> in a closed room
-> in a dry, dust-free and vibration-free area
• Storage temperature range from -20°C to +60°C
• After a storage period of 6 months, the blower bearings
and/or motor bearings should be checked before they are
mounted.
3 INFORMATION ON STARTING UP THE
MACHINE

3.1 Basic Instructions

• Before the fi rst and any subsequent start-up of the unit,
carefully check that it is in a proper condition. Devices that
are found to be damaged, for example, upon delivery or
during installation, must not be operated.
• The installation, assembly, operation and maintenance of
the unit must only be carried out by regularly trained and
competent qualifi ed personnel. Operating the unit after
a faulty installation, improper maintenance or the uncoor-
dinated replacement of components will result in improper
use and the loss of the warranty. The resulting risk shall
be borne solely by the customer or machine operator.
Note!
Reliable protection against the penetration of
foreign objects must be provided.3.2 Assembly,
Installation

3.2 Installation and assembly

• During set-up, installation and subsequent operation,
never expose the equipment to vibratory or impact loads.
The enclosed rubber pads must always be used.
• Do not subject the rubber pads to shear force or tension.
• Cover the open air intake and discharge with protective
grilles according to DIN EN ISO 13857.

• Blower feet and consoles must be designed only for the
respective blower's own weight.

FUK models, devices with UL approval:
• Ambient temperature -20°C to +40°C

3.3 Electrical connection

Note!
The work described in this section must only be
carried out by a qualifi ed electrician. The sizing

the connection of the motor should be made
in the terminal box according to the circuit dia-
gram and in accordance with the relevant local
regulations.
• Design of the electrical installations in accordance with
EN 60079-14.
• Complete potential equalisation must be provided, i.e.
proper and professional earthing of all electrically
conductive parts.
• Check whether the mains voltage corresponds with the
information on the rating plate.
• Explosion-proof three-phase alternating current motors
are exclusively used as drive motors.
• The protective earth conductor is in the terminal box.
• The additional content from the motor and frequency con-
verter manufacturer must be observed and can be ob-
tained from the supplier documentation.
3.3.1 Special features when operating ATEX blowers
with a frequency converter
Note!
Only fl ame-proof motors must be operated with a
frequency converter, identifi ed as Ex db eb II2G
T4 135°C!
Maximum frequency (see
rating plate)
50 Hz
60 Hz
> 60 Hz
A direct evaluation of the PTC resistor sensor by the frequen-
cy converter is not generally permitted in ATEX applications
(it is very important to observe the information provided by
the frequency converter manufacturer!).
Note!
The following information should also be ob-
served when operating the drive motor with a
frequency converter:
• Only motors must be used on the frequency
converter that are marked on the rating plate with
the option "/FC", "suitable for use with a frequen-
cy converter" or that were ordered and confi rmed
as "suitable for use with a frequency converter".
• The frequency converter supply voltage must
only be a maximum of 400 V without the motor
fi lter. Appropriate measures such as a motor
fi lter to protect the motor must be installed on the
motor terminals with higher frequency converter
supply voltages, longer lines and/or if the pulse
voltages are exceeded (max. 1000 Vpk for drive
motors up to 0.75 kW, maximum 1300 Vpk for
drive motors larger than 0.75 kW) Please contact
the frequency converter supplier in this case. If a
motor fi lter is included in the delivery, this must
be installed between the frequency converter and
the motor. Please ensure that there is suffi cient
space in the switch cabinet and take into account
the installation and assembly requirements in the
operating instructions of the frequency converter/
motor fi lter manufacturer.
• The maximum cable length between the mo-
tor and switch cabinet frequency converter (e.g.
Lenze Vector, Omron MX2 and Omron RX) must
not exceed 20 m. The electrical connecting cables
between the motor and frequency converter in the
above cases must be suitable shielded cables,
