3 Installation

3.1 Transport
G Check all parts for damage during transport before installation
and starting of operation.
G Do not store the blower unprotected in the open (protect against
moisture).
G Attach hoist securely. Only use hoists and load suspension
devices with sufficient load-carrying capacity.
3.2 Installation, assembly
G Install the blower horizontally and weather-protected.
G Do not subject the blower to any vibrations or shocks.
G Bolt the blower securely at the point of installation on a solid and
level base.
G Open intake and discharge ports are to be protected by wire
guards in accordance with
DIN EN ISO 13857
G Ensure adequate motor cooling; max. ambient temperature +60° C.
3.3 Electrical connection
Note!
To ensure safe and trouble-free operation, observe the
installation and safety information stated by the supplier
of the frequency converter in the respective operating
or application manuals without fail. Particular attention
should also be paid to correct electrical connection
and selection of the electrical feeders in order to ensure
electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
The instructions of the relevant electric motor manu-
facturer should be observed. Connect in accordance
with relevant local regulations. The work described in
this section must only be carried out by an electrical
specialist.
As drive motor a three phase a.c. motor has been attached.
G The PTC thermistors are to be connected to the frequency
converter.
G The safety earth terminal can be found in the terminal box.

Checking direction of rotation
Start operation of blower.
The direction of rotation of the impeller must correspond to the
directional arrow on the housing. The ventilating fans must not be
operated from the mains without a frequency converter.

4 Operation

4.1 A large variable speed range is obtained by using a frequency
converter, whereby only a small load-rated speed difference
occurs between no load operation and the max. load of the
ventilating fans.
To ensure trouble-free operation of the ventilating fans, it is impor-
tant that the frequency converter meets the following requirements:
G Frequency converter power is the same or greater than the
motor power *)
G Frequency converter current is the same or greater than the
motor curreent *)
.
u
v
w
-configuration
(higher voltage)
G Input voltage of the frequency converter is the same as the rated
voltage of the motor
G Pulse frequency of the frequency converter is the same as or
greater than 8 kHz, since a lower pulse frequency generates
high motor noise.
G The frequency converter must have a connection for temperature
sensors (PTC thermistor detectors).
*) Value on inquiry
The following U/f correlation is to be set on the frequency
converter without fail
U

0
f
B
On no account may a higher frequency (speed) be set on
the frequency converter than the frequency (f
the rating plate, since either the motor will be overloaded or
the ventilating fan could be destroyed as a result of the
excessive speed.
A boost may not be set on the frequency converter, since
this will result in an excessively high temperature rise of the
driving motor. The temperature sensors are to be connected
to the corresponding frequency converter inputs to protect
the driving motor. AC synchronous motors are not suitable
for frequency converter operation.
4.2 If the rated current of the drive motor is exceeded during opera-
tion, voltage and frequency of the power supply should be
checked and compared with the data on the blower rating plate.
4.3 The blower must not be subjected to vibration or shock loads.

5 Maintenance

Wearing parts are subject to the recommended maintenance
intervals and are a constituent part of the applicable warranty
claims. The service life of wearing parts (ball bearings and filters)
depends on the operating hours, the load and other influences,
such as temperature, etc.
5.1 Ball Bearings
The fan is equipped with enclosed deep groove ball bearings,
which do not have be to re-greased and have a minimum service
life of approx. 22,000 hours. We recommend exchanging the
ball bearings before the end of service life (at least 22,000 hours).
The 30-month operating time is not to be exceeded given con-
tinuous operations of 24 hours a day.
5.2 Micro-filters
The degree of clogging of the filter mats should be checked
at regular intervals, depending on the ambient conditions/
conditions of use, i.e. the user is responsible for ensuring that
the filters are permeable.
Note!
Repairs must be carried out by the manufacturer only.
We cannot accept any liability for repairs
carried out by third parties.
