Annex 1 describes only the details of the differences between the EXBa version "with diaphragm failure
signalling" feature "liquid end material" with characteristic values "SSM" = "1.4404 + diaphragm failure
signalling and "SSB" = "1.4404 + IgW. Rp1/4 + diaphragm failure signalling" and the standard version. The
version with diaphragm failure signalling is only possible in connection with pump types "1601" and "2501".

Design

Design / Functional Description

The diaphragm failure signalling facility monitors the leak tightness of the working diaphragm.
Instead of only one working diaphragm, the delivery unit of the EXBa with diaphragm failure signalling
features an additional diaphragm assy, consisting of the working diaphragm and an additional safety
diaphragm, and is equipped with a diaphragm failure sensor (see fig. 1).
The safety diaphragm is arranged between the end disc and an intermediate disc at a distance from the
working diaphragm and, together with the working diaphragm, it forms a sealed intermediate chamber.
Task
Monitoring for failure of the working diaphragm and, in the event of diaphragm failure, protection of the drive
from corrosion and prevention of chemicals leaking into the environment.
Even after diaphragm failure, this liquid end can continue to operate in emergency mode, free of leaks and at
the full working pressure until the diaphragm is changed.
ATTENTION
When the diaphragm fails, an electric signal is triggered at approx. 2 bar system backpressure.
ATTENTION
A precise pump delivery capacity can no longer be guaranteed after failure of the working diaphragm.
