Purpose of the instructions

These instructions describe the process of sealing a device.

A kit with a sufficient amount of seal wire and the required
parts is supplied for each of these versions.

Why seal?

If an electronic, electro-mechanical or mechanical device
needs to be used for legal metrology, any electronic,
electro-mechanical or mechanical components of this device
must be protected against tampering from outside.
Such protection is usually provided by sealing the device.
For this purpose, a sealing wire is inserted through the
provided sealing openings on the device components. The
ends of the wire are secured with a pinch seal.
The seal wire must be laid such that the appropriate device
components (cover, connection screws, etc.) cannot be
opened or removed without damaging the seal wire.
Undetected manipulation of the device is impossible as a
result.

Microprocessors are used in all FCX100 and FCX400 series
devices.
The operating programs use parameters for respective

requirements, data for specific nominal diameters, the zero

point and range of the sensor affected, for pulse valences
and much more.

If the device has been configured for a specific application,
the parameters may no longer be changed. To prevent any
changes of the parameters during later operation, the write
protection switch is used.
Once configuration of the device has been fully completed,
the write protection switch must be set to the "Read Only"
position. The device can then no longer be configured on
the LCD indicator or through the communication interfaces.
By applying a seal, you avoid deactivation of the write
protection of the device during operation and prevent any
changes in the device configuration from being made.
