Starting Up

3.1

Safety information

Caution: It is essential to read the General Information" in
Chapter 1 at the beginning of this manual before starting up.
3.2

Checking the package contents

The package contains:
a base station
a handset with belt clip
a power adapter plug
3.3

Connecting the base station

Position the base station within reach of the telephone line socket and a
power outlet. Only use the components supplied.
1. Insert the small plug on the power adapter plug cable in the
corresponding socket on the rear side of the base station.
Note: The plug cannot be connected incorrectly because the plug and socket
are designed in such a way to prevent reverse poling. The plugs must snap
audibly into the base station sockets.
2. Insert the small plug on the telephone connection cable in the
corresponding socket on the rear side of the base station.
3. Plug the power adapter plug in a properly installed 230 Volt power
outlet.
The power adapter plug from the base station must remain connected
at all times.
4. Connect the telephone connection cable supplied in the telephone line
socket.

Inserting the rechargeable batteries

In order to insert the rechargeable batteries in the handset, press on the top
edge of the battery compartment cover and slide it downwards. Only insert
standard batteries. Pay attention to correct polarity. Close the battery
compartment cover.
Use the rechargeable batteries supplied. When replacing batteries,
only use those of the type AAA 1.2V 750 mAh. Other rechargeable
batteries or power packs could cause a short circuit.

Attaching the belt clip

Insert a holder on the belt clip in the recess on the handset. Carefully press
the second holder in the opposite recess on the handset until it audibly snaps
into place.

Charging the batteries

Place the handset, with its display facing the front, in the base station for at
least 14 hours. Failure to charge the batteries properly can lead to telephone
malfunction.
The rechargeable batteries in the handset have a maximum standby time of
120 hours at room temperature. The maximum talk time is 12 hours.
The current battery charge status is indicated in the display:
Full
Half empty

Tone or Pulse dialling mode

The telephone can be operated on both analogue telephone connections
(Pulse dialling) as well as digital telephone connections (Tone dialling/DTMF).
The equipment is set to Tone dialling (DTMF) at the factory.
