1. Delta-multi-train
operation, what is it?
Until now a transformer has always been
connected to the track for operating a
model railroad layout, and the operating
voltage and the speed for the locomotive
were set at this transformer. If there were
two locomotives on the track, both
always ran at the same speed. Changing
directon at the transformer caused both
locomotives to reverse at the same time.
Prototypical operation with each powered
unit moving at its own speed and in its
own direction was only possible by divi-
ding the layout into different electrical
sections, each of which could be turned
on or off as needed, or powered separa-
tely by different transformers.
With the Delta-system it is now possible
to control up to five locomotives equipped
with the Delta-module independently of
each other in their speed and direction of
travel. Previously, an area of track was
selected for control at the train transfor-
mer using electrical switches; now the
Delta Control 4 f unit allows you to select
the locomotive – regardless of where it is
located on the layout and regardless of
which track it is standing on.
This unit transmits the setting for the
train transformer to the Delta-module in
the locomotive selected. This allows
several powered units to move on the
layout with different speeds. Now no
more electrical separation points are
required and a single feeder track is all
that is needed!

The Delta-system was designed in terms
of its operation and potential for small to
medium size layouts. When your layout
starts making greater demands, you can
move on to the Märklin-Digital-system at
anytime with no difficulty, without having
to retrofit the locomotives with a digital-
decoder.
2. Connections for the
Delta Control 4 f
The Delta Control 4 f requires one of
the following transformers for its power
supply:
Household current 230 volts (50 Hz):
Transformer (no. 6002)
Transformer 32 VA (no. 6647)
Household current 110 / 120 volts (60 Hz):
Transformer (no. 6001)
Transformer 32 VA (no. 6646)
If your home has an electrical system
different from those listed above, see
your authorized Märklin dealer about an
appropriate transformer for this system!
Very Important: The connections for
the Delta Control 4 f must be connected
only to the transformers listed above or
to substitute transformers authorized by
Märklin for this purpose. The use of any
other transformer is not authorized!
