Attaching the shatter guard
Note: The shatter guard must always
be attached when the machine is used.
1. Open the clamp and move it out
of the way so that the shatter
guard can be attached to the gear
housing.
2. The guard has two lugs that fit into
corresponding notches in the gear
housing. Face the guard as shown
in fig. 2a and press the lugs into
the notches in the gear housing.
3. Once the guard is in place you can
adjust it to the appropriate position
before closing the clamp to lock it
in place.
4. Make sure that the guard sits
securely. If the clamp is loose you
can open it and turn the adjustment
screw until it sits tightly around
the gear housing when closed
(fig. 2b).
Attaching and changing grinding/cutting wheels
1. Unplug the mains lead from
the wall socket.
2. Lay the machine on its back.
3. Press in the spindle lock button (5).
4. Insert the pins of the spanner (9)
into the holes in the clamp nut
(3) and undo the nut by turning it
anticlockwise (fig. 3).
5. Make sure that the flange nut is
positioned correctly. It is designed
to fit over the flat faces on
the spindle. Turn the washer until it
slides down and is a tight fit.
