4.4 Swing-away joystick

Swing away (figure 28)
1. Apply light sideways pressure to
the control box (B).
2. The control box swings out parallel
to the armrest.
This allows the user to drive close to a
table, while still being able to operate
all of the functions of the control box.
Ensure that nothing gets
caught between the swivel
mechanism when the control box
swings out.
5 Getting in and out of the
wheelchair (transfer)
Do not stand on the foot-plates.
These have not been designed to
accommodate the full weight of a
person. In addition, this could cause
the wheelchair to topple over.
Forwards transfer (fig 29)
1. Fold up the foot supports
2. Swing the calf plates to the side (if
applicable)
3. If possible, swing the legrests to
the side
4. Seat yourself in the chair
Sideways transfer (fig 30)
1. Unscrew the cap and remove the
armrest
2. Seat yourself in the chair
