10. Maintenance

A real car must be serviced regularly. For your model, the screws must also be checked for tight fit regularly and any damage that appears must be removed.
Only use original spare parts.
At certain intervals maintenance works and function controls are to be carried out that ensure trouble-free operation and roadworthiness for a long time.
Engine vibrations and shocks during drive operation can loosen parts and screw connections.
Therefore, check all screws prior and after EACH drive and re-tighten them if necessary.
Check before each use:
• All wheel nuts and screw connections must be tight.
• When replacing screws, secure them with screw locking varnish
• The servo control lever must fit tight on the servo shaft.
• Check the fit and condition of the fuel tubes and the air filter.
• Check the tightness of hose connections and tank lid before each use.
• The cables must be installed properly.
• Also check the charging state of the rechargeable batteries of the transmitter and the receiver
Cleaning
The model is only designed for off-road use and thus often gets dirty. Regular cleaning is required for preserving the model's function.
• After driving, clean the entire vehicle of dust and dirt, use compressed air and/or a special spray cleaner. Never use high-pressure cleaner for this!
• In general, the air filter and battery and receiver boxes must each be closed off water-tight with a plastics bag or a similar means or the rechargeable batteries
and receiver be removed before cleaning. We also recommend drying the model with pressurized air after washing it.
• Pay particular attention to the bearings. Remove the wheels occasionally and remove dust and deposits from the bearings.
• After cleaning, the movable parts must be re-oiled and re-lubricated.
• After lubricating the bearings, remove any escaping oil and grease since this is where dust can settle particularly well.
• Also clean the cooling fins of the cooling head regularly with a toothbrush, in order to ensure an optimal heat dissipation.
Brakes
Brake linings and the brake disks wear off with time. Thus, the braking effect decreases as the maximal brake pressure was set according to the thickness of new
linings/brake disks.
If you observe that the braking effect is fading: Check the brake discs and adjust the position of the adjustment rings on the brake control linkage if necessary.
Lubrication
All moveable parts and parts with bearings must be lubricated with a low viscosity machine oil or spray grease after cleaning and after each use.
Fuel system, engine
• Impurities must not get into the tank or the carburettor and / or especially not into the engine. Such dirt can cause misfiring under load or a bad idle speed
settings. In the worst case, a foreign body between the cylinder lining and piston can cause the piston to get stuck or piston seizure!
Mount a fuel filter between tank and carburettor to filter out particulate material from the fuel.
• Always use fresh fuel and keep the tank lid firmly shut. With time, model fuel absorbs humidity from the air. This humidity reduces the fuel performance and
leads to faulty engine performance as well as engine corrosion.
• Empty the tank if you do not use the model for several days. The volatile components of the fuel, nitro methane and methanol, evaporate and leave an oil
deposit, which enriches the fuel mix and may clog pipes.
• If you want to stop driving for the day, screw off the glow plug and drip a few drops of after-run engine oil (low-viscosity machine oil) into the cylinder. Replace
the glow plug and turn the model upside down a couple of time so that the oil can spread in the combustion chamber. This prevents corrosion.
• If you do not use the model for an extended period of time, e.g. in winter, drip 2 - 3 drops of preservation oil (accessory) into the cylinder.
• Fix fuel hoses on the connector nipples with thin cable binders or special hose binders (accessories). Otherwise the oil in the fuel can cause slipping.
