3. Press the pre-glued strip against the panel, by pushing
on knob M, (Fig. 6), and move the machine along the
panel; (Fig. 6).
4. Operate the cutting lever when the clamp reaches the
end of the panel, with an overlap of 2 cm on this side
and continue edging until the end; (Fig. 7).
NOTE. - The heater has two output temperatures (switch
positions I and II): 300°C and 525°C (570°F and 1000°F).
Use one or the other depending on the advance speed
at which you are edging and the quality of the glue on
the pre-glued strip you are using
PREPARING THE AG98R FOR EDGEBANDING
THICK EDGES (max. 3 mm) WITH PRE-CUT
STRIPS
7. ADJUSTING THE MOVEMENT OF THE STRIP
• Do not fit the spool (Figs. 1 and 2) when you are going
to edgeband with pre-cut strips.
1. Measure the length of the board you are going to
band, add an extra 4 cm at the beginning and 0.5 cm at
the end and cut the pre-glued strip to this length.
2. Loosen knobs E (Fig. 3) and separate the two sectio-
ns using knob H, to allow the pre-glued strip to pass
through.
3. Pass the strip underneath the anti-return bar Z, (Fig.
8), until it is under gluing roller W (Fig. 9).
4. Adjust side guide Y (Fig. 8) to the width of the strip.
5. Close moving section G (Fig. 8) using knob H (Fig.
3) to adjust it to the width of the strip. Make sure it
is not trapped and fix it in this position with knobs E
(Fig. 3).
6. Attach the retainer R1 (Fig. 9) to the end of the
strip.
8. GLUING THICK EDGES
WITH PRE-CUT STRIPS
First adjust the position of the CLAMPS and the DIS-
TRIBUTION OF THE SURPLUS as explained in sections 4.
and 5. of this manual, for edges on a roll.
- Attach extension P1 (Fig. 10) level with the edge of
the board to be edgebanded and fix in place using
knob E1 (Fig. 10).
1 – Position the machine at the beginning of the board,
so that the vise clamps are equidistant from limit T1
(Fig. 11).
2 – Pull the pre-cut strip upwards (Fig. 11), until retainer
R1 (Fig. 11 y 12) hits the end of extension P1 (Fig. 12).
3 - Set the switch to position I or II to start the heater
and wait a few seconds until it reaches the correct
temperature and the glue in the edge starts to melt.
4 – Press the pre-cut strip firmly onto extension P1
(Fig. 12), pressing on knob M (Fig. 12), and move the
machine slowly along the board until you have finished
edgebanding.
8
Guide X (Fig. 8) has a non-stick coating
which prevents the glue on the strip from
sticking to guide X when it is hot.
To clean guide X (Fig. 8), use only sui-
table solvents.
Do not scrape off glue residues as this
would damage the coating.
9. MAINTENANCE
Before performing any maintenance operation, discon-
nect machine from power source.
Changing blades:
Remove screw N, (Fig. 4), which secures the blade block
to the gluing roller. Turn the machine over and loosen the
three screws P, (Fig. 6), that hold it to the fixed side.
Separate the blade block from the machine; (Fig. 13).
Remove strip guide Q, (Fig. 13), deflector R and rear
blade S, (Fig. 14).
The heads of screws T, (Fig. 13) securing the front blade
can be seen at the top of the blade block. Loosen and
remove these screws, releasing the front blade.
Change the blades and re-assemble the blade block in
the opposite order to that given for dismantling it.
10. NOISE AND VIBRATION LEVEL
The noise and vibration levels of this electrical device
have been measured according to European standard
EN50144.
The noise level in the workplace can exceed 85dB(A),
in which case it is necessary for the user to take noise
protection measures.
11. WARRANTY
All VIRUTEX power tools are guaranteed for 12 months
from the date of purchase, excluding any damage which
is a result of incorrect use or fo natural wear and tear
on the machine. All repairs should be carried out by the
