B Measuring leads
Always use only the captive test leads for measurements. Before every measure-
ment, check the condition of the test probes and check the insulation for damage.
The captive test leads are suitable for voltages up to 400 V max. The P-9 measuring
instrument is designed for voltages up to 400 VDC or VAC rms max. Take particular
care when dealing with voltages greater than 25 V AC or 35 V DC.
Never exceed the maximum input levels, because otherwise
damage to the measuring instrument can endanger life.
To take out or stow the captive test leads, open the storage compartment (on the
right side of the measuring instrument) by pressing the case projection on the cover
upwards (see also arrow marking).
Take the test leads out and lay these together in the recess at the bottom of the sto-
rage compartment. Close the storage compartment.
Take care while closing (above all also when stowing the test leads) that the leads are
not trapped.
C Putting into operation
C 1 Basic setting
Set the rotary switch to the desired measurement function. The measuring instru-
ment is thereby switched on.
When the rotary switch is not operated and no measurement is carried out, after
approx. 15 minutes the measuring instrument is automatically switched off by the
"Auto Power Off" function.
To switch on the measuring instrument again, the rotary switch must first be set to
OFF and afterwards the desired switch setting selected once more.
C 2 Button assignments
a) "D-H"
Using this function, changing measured values can be held for a report. If the "D-H"
is pressed once, the measured value is "frozen". In addition, the "D-H" symbol
appears on the left edge of the display. To return to instantaneous measurement,
operate the "D-H" button again, whereupon the "R-H" symbol disappears.
