The ventilation pipe sets up pressure compensation to the
fresh air for the air flowing into or out of the system during
emptying or filling. Since the KESSEL chamber system with
sewage lifting station is usually installed near the respective
building, the ventilation pipe must be routed – as straight as
possible – to above the roof to avoid odour pollution. If ne-
cessary, an existing ventilation pipe in the house can be
connected.
At the end of the inlet and ventilation pipe, the seals provided
must be inserted into the respective bore holes in the adap-
ter and greased, then pushed into the KG pipes or fittings.
The pressure pipe (DN 50/80) for discharging the wash
water into the sewage system must be connected directly to
the respective pressure pipe connection muff PN 10 made of
PEHD with DN 50 (outer dia. = 63 mm) / DN 80 (outer dia. =
90 mm). In the case of pressure pipe connection DN 80 the
reduction must be cut to size to DN 50 on site. The connec-
tion can either be through welding to PEHD pipe or through
respective pressure-resistant and interlocking pipe connec-
tions to other pipe materials (e.g. through pipe clamps).
According to the regulations of EN 12056, the pressure pipe
must be routed above the backwater level and connected
to a ventilated basic or collecting pipe. This can be carried
out by:
• routing the pipe back into the building and installing a "loop"
over the backwater level there
• realizing the backwater loop outside the building or "on site"
with appropriate frost protection measures (e.g. mound with
plants, insulated flower pots, heated outer switch cabinet).
The pressure pipe must be connected in such a way that no
pressure is transferred to the system and there is no direct
contact with the building (structure-borne noise). No other
draining elements may be connected to the pressure line..
Airtightness and material strength must be guaranteed under
pressure load, too. This must be checked during initial ope-
ration.
4. Installation and assembly

4.3 Inserting the sewage pump(s)
The parts may only be lifted and/or assembled using sui-
CAUTION:
table equipment and exercising appropriate caution.
The pumps may only be lowered into the chamber using
suitable mechanical lifting gear (e.g. derrick).
There is a danger of slipping during entry into the inspec-
tion chamber. For this reason, a second person must al-
ways be available to monitor the entry into the chamber
from the outside.
Check first whether the chamber system is free of soiling,
solid material and debris and clean the chamber system if ne-
cessary. Any cables in the guide rails must be protected, too.
Then the pump(s) is/are inserted into the chamber. For this,
the pump(s) is/are lowered slowly on a chain using suitable
mechanical lifting equipment, connected to the skid pipe at
the bottom and lowered to the bottom of the chamber. Make
sure that the pump(s) is/are sealed correctly at the base
elbow.
Then connect the upper end of the chain with the snap hook
to the eyelet on the attachment piece. This allows the pump
to be removed without anyone entering the chamber.
IMPORTANT:
After inserting the pumps check that the respective shut-
off valves are open (vertical lever position)!
