Cleaning the air cleaner
DANGER: Inlammables strictly prohibited
Check and clean the air cleaner daily or every 1ί operating hoursέ
ά Turn the choke lever fully to the close side, and keep the carburetor free from
dust or dirt.
ά δoosen the ixing boltέ
ά Remove the air cleaner cover by pulling its bottom sideέ
ά
Remove the elements and tap them to remove dirt.
ά If the elements are heavily contaminatedμ
Remove the elements, immerse them in warm water or in waterάdiluted neutral
detergent, and dry them completelyέ Do not squeeze or rub them when washingέ
ά Before attaching the elements, be sure to dry them completelyέ Insuficient drying
of the elements may lead to dificult startupέ
ά Wipe out oil adhering around the air cleaner cover and the breather part with
waste cloth.
ά Fit the element (sponge) into the element (felt)έ
Fit the elements into the plate so that the sponge faces the air cleaner coverέ
ά Immediately attach the cleaner cover and tighten it with ixing boltsέ (In
remounting, irst place the upper claw, and then the lower clawέ)
NOTICE:
ά Clean the elements several times a day, if excessive dust adheres to itέ Dirty
elements reduce engine power and make starting engine dificultέ
ά
Remove oil on the elements. If operation continues with the elements
remaining not cleared of oil, oil in the air cleaner may fall outside, resulting in
contamination of the environment.
ά Do not put the elements on the ground or dirty placeέ τtherwise they pick up
dirt or debris and it may damage the engineέ
ά σever use fuel for cleaning the elementsέ Fuel may damage themέ
