MAINTENANCE

ά
Before performing any maintenance work on the pole hedge trimmer (blade
cleaning, etcέ), always stop the engine and wait until the engine has cooled downέ
As an additional safety precaution, also remove the spark plug capέ
ά
Do not try to straighten or weld bent or broken cutting bladesέ Always replace
damaged bladesέ
ά
Stop the engine at regular intervals to check the cutting blades for possible
damage (perform a tappingάresonance test to detect hardάtoάsee hairline cracks)έ
Always make sure that the teeth of the blades are sharpέ
ά
Clean the pole hedge trimmer regularlyέ During cleaning also check all screws,
nuts and bolts are well tightenedέ
ά
To reduce the risk of ire, never service or store the pole hedge trimmer in the
vicinity of open iresέ
ά
Always wear rugged protective gloves when handling the cutting bladesέ
ά
Contact your dealer for replacement cutting bladesέ
ά
σever use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol or the like for cleaningέ
Discoloration, deformation or cracks may resultέ

Sharpening the blade

If the cutting blades have become blunt and cutting performance is poor, have the
blades sharpened by an authorized service agentέ
Adjusting blade clearance
The upperήlower blades wearέ If you cannot get a clean cut though the blades are sharp enough, adjust the clearance as followsέ
The tightness of the truss bolt decides the clearance of the bladesέ The nut holds the truss bolt with certain tightnessέ Too loose clearance
causes blunt cut, but too tight clearance causes unnecessary heat and sooner wornάout of the bladesέ
1έ δoosen the nut (1) with a box or openάended wrenchέ
βέ Tighten the truss bolt (β) with a hex wrench lightly till it stopsέ And then, screw it back between a quarter turn and a half turn to gain
necessary clearance.
γέ Tighten the nut (1), holding the truss bolt (β)έ
4έ Apply light oil on the friction surface of the bladesέ
ηέ Start the engine, operate the throttle on and off for a minuteέ
θέ Stop the engine and touch the surfaceέ If they are not too hot to touch, you have made a proper adjustmentέ If they are too hot to touch, turn
the truss bolt (β) back a little and repeat the step η to θέ
στTEμ Before making the adjustment, stop the engine and wait for the blades to stopέ
The blades have a slot around the truss bolt (β)έ In case you ind dust in the end of any of the slots, clean itέ
