4.3 Plug-in coupling system
The insulating sticks, insulating elements, handles or adapter elements of the PHE III...
voltage detector are fitted with a plug-in coupling system that allows to extend the handle
of the voltage detector. The plastic plug-in coupling is self-guiding and protected against
twisting. For assembly and disassembly, simply push the yellow pushbutton. Check the
assembled coupling elements for tight fit before using them. The yellow pushbutton must be
fully snapped into the longitudinal hole of the bushing in a form-fitting manner (see Fig.
4.3), (for maximum total length of the PHE III... voltage detector, please refer to section 5.).

4.4 Types of electrodes and test probes
PHE III... voltage detectors feature an integrated test electrode designed as a tooth profile
that allows safe contact. The M8 female thread integrated in the tooth profile of the test elec-
trode allows to use different detachable electrodes and test probes.
The electrode / test probe required for the relevant part of the installation is firmly screwed
into the upper end of the test prod. The relevant electrode / test prod must have the same
nominal voltage (nominal voltage range) as the installation to be tested.
When using test probes, check the indication of PHE III... voltage detectors under operating
voltage conditions before every use. Only use original DEHN test probes (see 11.1, Accessories,
page 19).
5. Notes on safe operation (see also Figs. 1 to 3, pages 5 to 7)
Only one person may operate the PHE III... voltage detector during testing.
