8. Mechanical installation

In most vehicles the producers plan an installation cut-out for the car radio. The choice of the location
depends on safety aspects. Therefore we recommend that you actually install the radio in this place.
The device requires a DIN installation recess with the dimensions 182 x 53mm; these dimensions are stan-
dardised and usually the vehicle manufacturers keep to them.
Should there be no slot, please ask your car dealer about the correct place of installation for your car
radio.
Please select the place of installation carefully so that the device neither influences the driver's
activity nor distracts him from the traffic.
Use the supplied installation material to guarantee a safe installation.
Modifications to the vehicle made necessary due to the installation of the car radio or other
components must always be carried out in such a manner that neither the traffic safety nor the
design stability of the motor vehicle are impaired. Cutting out a section of the sheet metal will
already void the MOT for many vehicles.
Since the car radio creates heat during operation, the place of installation must be heat-resi-
stant.
Make sure before drilling the attachment holes that no electric cables, brake lines, the fuel tank
or similar will be damaged.
When using tools to install your car's hi-fi components, follow the manufacturer's safety in-
structions.
When installing the car's hi-fi system, take into consideration the risks that can arise from de-
vices being torn away in the case of an accident. Therefore, you should secure each component
in a place where it will not pose any risk to passengers.
Before you install the system, check the depth of the installation recess.
a) Removing and replacing the front control panel
The front control panel can be removed to prevent theft.
• Before removing the front panel, switch the device off.
• Press the OPEN button (5) and pull the control panel off the device from the right.
• Pull the left side out of its latch.
• Remove the control panel and put it into the supplied protective case.
• To attach the control panel, insert the left side into the holder and then click the right side of the panel
into the latch.
• Do not press on the display or the buttons.
Make sure to insert the front control panel in the correct orientation.
Do not press the front too much against the unit. You can easily put it back by pressing slightly on
the device.
When you remove the front control panel, please put it into the supplied protective case.
