For steering a servo with at least 4 kg/cm (1:10 scale) or 7 kg/cm (1:8 scale) power is needed, preferably a digitally ser-
vo with metal gears and ball bearings. Gas cars need a second servo for the throttle – at least also 7 kg/cm with metal
gears and ball bearings.
The batteries of your remote control discharge itself with longer storage automatically. Therefore it is absolutely ne-
cessary to charge the transmitter- and receiver batteries before use the model appropriately. At low temperatures the
capacity decreases strongly, therefore the periods of operation are shorter with cold weather. Therefore the batteries
must be controlled more frequently.
If the servos become noticeably slower or if the pointer of the measuring instrument in the transmitter goes into the red
range, and/or activates the integrated computer alarm system, then stop the handling intermediately and recharge the
batteries. The charging procedure please infer from the operating instructions of your battery charger.
If the batteries are charged, you should convince yourself before each trip of the function of the remote control and oc-
casionally a range test is recommended. Therefore switch the transmitter and reciever on. The transmitter antenna is not
pulled out. From appropriate distance from the model (approx. 25 - 30 m) check whether all servos work perfectly and in
the correct direction. This test should be repeated with the running engine, while an aide holds the car.
In order to avoid uncontrolled movements of the servos, switch on fi rst the transmitter, then the receiver, and after driving
fi rst switch the receiver and then the transmitter off. If this sequence is not observed, thus the receiver switching is ON,
the transmitter however on OUT, then the receiver can be brought to responding by other transmitters. Then the servos
can run in dead spot and if this happens frequently, the receiver battery is empty prematurely by the high load. Pull the
transmitter antenna out completely to steering your vehicle.
Check whether your channel is already used by another driver. Agree upon the frequency allocation with other model
pilots.
Preparation of the remote control
Before start-up of your remote control you should check the following points:
1.
Is the transmitter battery charged and/or are fresh dry batteries inserted in the transmitter?
2.
Is the receiver battery charged and/or are fresh dry batteries inserted in the receiver battery holder? A weak, not
charged battery can result that the vehicle does not react correctly any longer.
3.
Does the steering servo function perfectly and in the correct direction?
4.
Does the throttle servo function perfectly and in the correct direction? As the fi rst measure must the neutral (midd-
le) - position of the steering and gas servo be specifi ed. steering servo at channel I, throttle servo at channel II and
receiver battery at Batt.- connector of the receiver.
Ni-MH batteries
Ni-MH batteries can be charged several times, contrary to normal dry batteries, (approx. 300 times). Racing packs differ
by the number of cells, the capacity and the weight. For your electric vehicle you normally need a Ni-MH Racing pack
with 7,2 V. Gas cars need a receiver battery pack with 4 or 5 cells NiMH or a 2 cell (7.4 V) LiPo with a suitable power
regulator (e.g. 3051).
It is important always to observe the charging instructions supplied by the battery manufacturer, and to keep to the re-
commended charge currents and times. Do not fast-charge batteries unless the manufacturer states expressly that they
are suitable for the high currents which fl ow during these processes. Rechargeable batteries generally - and Lithium-
Polymer cells in particular - are sensitive and easily damaged. It is therefore essential to supervise the whole of the
charge process.
Please consider that new batteries achieves the full capacity after several charge/discharge cycles.
