PA 5 - Turnit
control unit
sound unit
Control unit and sound unit plugged together
Connection
– When using the control unit and the sound unit plugged together,
the audio signals from the control unit are sent to the sound unit via
an 8 pin connector.
Since two connectors are placed on the sound unit, you can turn
the sound unit 180˚ to select either the aluminium or wooden front.
Stereo placement
The stereo placement is adjusted automatically, which means that
no matter which front you select, the left channel comes from the left
of the sound unit and right channel comes from the right.
Power supply connection
– The mains cable that is fixed on the bottom of the sound unit has to
be connected to a mains outlet (230V~, 50/60 Hz).
• Always ensure that the voltage indicated on the unit's rating plate
agrees with you local power supply. If this is not the case, consult
your dealer or customer service center. The rating is found on the
back of the control unit and on the top of the sound unit.
– The power supply is sent directly from the sound unit into the control
unit, so the separate mains cable is not needed in this case.
Note: The power of the mains plug on the top of the sound unit is
always automatically switched off as soon as the control unit is
separated from the sound unit in order to avoid possible shock
hazard.
INSTALLATION
Connecting other equipment
Before connecting any other programme sources, always
switch off Space Fidelity. In addition, note the correct
connection of the stereo channels:
R: right (red)
L: left (white).
AUX IN/OUT
Connect the LINE OUT sockets of your
other equipment, e.g. tape -or DAT
recorder, TV, DSR tuner, etc. to the
sockets AUX IN.
Connect the LINE IN sockets of your
other equipment, e.g. tape -or DAT
recorder to the sockets AUX OUT.
Antenna connection
Only a good antenna system (broadband cable connection
to your own antenna system, or a common house antenna
system) can guarantee optimum reception quality,
especially for FM stereo broadcasts.
FM 75 Ω
• The FM 75 Ω socket is used for connection to the
Community or Cable Antenna System or to a roof-
mounted FM antenna with an impedance of 75 Ohm.
• If non of these are available, you may use the cast
(wire) antenna supplied for nearby station (reception
could be poor). You should not, however, change the
length of the cast antenna.

SETTING UP
Control unit and sound unit in separate places
Power supply connection
– The mains cable that is fixed on the bottom of the sound unit has to
be connected to a mains outlet (230V~, 50/60 Hz).
Note: The power of the mains plug on the top of the sound unit is
always automatically switched off when the control unit is separa-
ted from the sound unit in order to avoid possible shock hazard.
• Since the power is in this case not supplied via the sound unit, you
have to connect a separate mains cable (supplied) to the bottom of
the control unit and to a wall outlet.
• Always ensure that the voltage indicated on the unit's rating plate
agrees with you local power supply. If this is not the case, consult
your dealer or customer service center. The rating is found on the
back of the control unit and on the top of the sound unit.
Stereo placement
– In order to guarantee the correct stereo placement (left channel from
left side and right channel from the right side of the sound unit), you
should use the aluminium side of the sound unit as front.
RF transmission
– In case you set up the units in separate places in your listening
room, the communication between control unit and sound unit takes
place via RF transmission.
• Pull out the RF antenna on the back of the control unit and place it
in a vertical position to ensure good transmission of the RF signals
Selecting the RF transmission channel
• On the top of the sound unit and on the back of the control unit you
will find a CHANNEL (1...7) switch.
• Select on both units the same transmission channel.
• You can check if the channels match by connecting the mains
cables to a wall outlet and switching on the units with the power
buttons. A green LED indicator on the top of the sound unit lights up
if the channels are the same on both units.
The reach of the RF signal is 30 m in open air. This distance will be
reduced if walls are in between, depending very much on the
construction materials.
Privacy: Please note that at the transmission of the RF signals, no
coding system is used. The transmitted RF signals can also be
picked up by another RF receiver set situated at a neighbour.
Protection cap
• When you are using the two units separately, you can protect the
top of the sound unit against dust, etc. by placing the protection
cap on top of the sound unit. When using the units plugged
together, you can store the protection cap between the speaker
tube and the wooden panel.
