was switched off, the standby mode will be selected
when the power is switched back on.
– When the system is switched to active mode (as
described below), the respective source will be
indicated on the display.
– The sound is muted for approximately 3 seconds when
it is turned on in order to suppress disturbing initial
signal noise.
• To switch off TURNIT press the POWER buttons again.
Note: When you are using the control and sound unit
plugged together, the power supply to the control unit will
automatically be switched off when switching off the sound
unit (power button on the aluminium front)
Stand By
• You can switch the system to STAND BY with the y key
on the remote control.
– STAND BY mode is indicated by the LEDs in the
POWER buttons and on the front of the control unit.
• When you want to switch your system on again, simply
press CD, TUNER, TAPE or AUX on the remote control
(or the SOURCE key on the top of the control unit).
Source Selection
• To select a listening source, press CD, TUNER, TAPE or
AUX on the remote control (or the SOURCE key on the
top of your unit). The respective source will be indicated
on the display.
Display angle
• The display can be put in a standing or horizontal position by
pressing the DISPLAY / key on the control unit or on the remote
control.
– The display shows either DISPLAY 3 or DISPLAY 4.
Display brightness
The display is automatically switched to normal brightness whenever
the unit is activated.
• To adapt the display brightness, press first the DISPLAY / key on
the unit or the remote control for 5 seconds until BRIGHTNESS
appears on the display.
• Pressing the DISPLAY / key again changes the display brightness

• When you are using the control- and sound unit in separate places,
you can also adjust the volume with the VOLUME-turning knob on
top of the sound unit.
Muting
• The volume can be completely muted by pressing the
remote control.
– This is useful, for example, if you want to take a telephone call and
do not want to be distracted by music, news, etc., from your system.
– If the muting function is used when recording a tape, this has no
effect on the subsequent recording volume level as only the
speakers are muted.
The
indication lights up on the display when the MUTING
function is active.
• The MUTING function can be deactivated by pressing the

OPERATION
Turnit - Multipath effect
The TURNIT has an RF system which enables the
transmission/reception of audio signals without cables,
even through walls or furniture.
International and national regulations limit the use of RF
emission power to avoid neighbour interference. The RF
power output is kept low, with a value of 10mW allowing
a reception range of 30 meters in open air. If the distance
to the transmitter is longer, the signal will be too weak to
be received. In indoor conditions the reception range
decreases depending on the number of walls and on
construction materials.
In some cases, people, walls or other surfaces can reflect
RF signals. Reflected signals added to the direct signal (not
reflected), might cause a signal disturbance called
Multipath'. This effect is caracterized by noise or a
momentary dropout in the sound. After a dropout, the unit
needs 1 second to re-establish the sound.
If such interferences are heard, another location of the
receiver, a small displacement of the antenna or just a
slight reduction of its length might solve the problem.

Allgemeiner Teil / General Section
Automatic standby mode
– The sound unit is provided with an automatic standby
ON/OFF circuitry.
Should the control unit be switched to STANDBY, RF
emission is stopped and the sound unit goes to standby
mode after 15 seconds.
– If the control unit is switched to active mode again, RF
transmission is started and the sound unit will auto-
matically switch on after the set-up time of 7 seconds.
Using control- and sound unit in
separate places - Set-up time
• When the units are used in separate places, the
TURNIT needs 7 seconds to set up the RF transmission.
Switching the RF transmission on or off
• When using the control unit and sound unit plugged
together, the RF transmission can be switched on or off.
– This is usefull when you have installed for instance a
second sound unit or RF receiver in another room.
• Switch on Turnit and press the MODE key on the remote
control for more than 5 seconds. The display indicates
ROOM B ON or ROOM B OFF.
• Press again MODE (within 2 seconds) to switch
between the two settings.
Note: When the control unit is not placed on top of the
sound unit (placed in separate places), it is not possible to
switch the RF transmission off (it is always on).
Power sound
• With the POWER SOUND key you can switch the power sound on
and off.
POWER SOUND: slightly accentuates the lower and higher frequen-
cies which renders a more balanced overall sound during quieter
passages. Its effectiveness depends in turn on the setting of the
volume knob. The sound is thus optimally adapted to human
hearing sensitivity, which is also dependent on the respective volume.
BASS and TREBLE
You can individually adjust the higher and lower frequencies from the
sound of your speakers. In this way, you can compensate for surroun-
ding acoustic irregularities which may be caused, for example, by
sound reflection behaviour on walls with relatively large, empty surface
areas, or "damping" caused by furniture or other objects.
You can adjust the bass and treble values as follows:
• Press the BASS or TREBLE key
• Then, adjust the BASS and TREBLE values with the + / – keys
– The display shows the selected value e.g. TREBLE +8
Sound presets
The various sound presets can be selected by pressing several times the
SOUND CONTROL key: FLAT, VOCAL, DISCO, JAZZ and, when
programmed, USER 1 and USER 2
Turnit is supplied with 3 preprogrammed sound presets: JAZZ, DISCO
and VOCAL.
FLAT: The bass and treble settings are switched to neutral. This function
merely bypasses the signal path through the bass and treble controls
ensuring that the original sound is reproduced with the highest fidelity.
Programming user presets
You also have the possibility to program 2 sound presets yourself:
USER 1 and USER 2. For these two sound presets you can install
different BASS and TREBLE values:
• Adapt the BASS and TREBLE values as described above.
• Then, press MEMORY.
– The display shows shortly USER 1.
• In the same way you can store USER 2.
Deleting a user preset:
• Select the sound preset (USER 1 or 2) to be deleted by pressing
the SOUND CONTROL key.
• Press CANCEL.
– The sound preset is now deleted and can not be selected anymore
with the SOUND CONTROL key.
