The equipment must be installed in a position where the ambient temper-
ature is not subject to excessive variations.
The temperature controller generates excess waste heat depending on the
setting. This is dissipated through the vent holes in the housing and by the
built-in fan. The fan is switched on and off thermostatically. There must be
unobstructed air circulation at front and back.
Insert sensor plug in sensor socket and screw tight.
Check that the equipment voltage of the Novasina AW SPRINT (see
rating plate on the unit) corresponds to the mains voltage.
Attention! Only connect the power cord to the mains if the mains and
equipment voltage correspond.
Insert mains cable in instrument socket and connect to the mains.
Switch on the measuring instrument with the mains switch on the back
of the instrument (the red LED on the temperature regulator lights up).
The display opposite appears for a short while.
The instrument automatically begins warming up the sensor, which may
take several minutes. The remaining warm-up time is shown in the
display.
Note: the warm-up function may be skipped if the <Stop> key is pressed
at the same time that the unit is switched on.
After the warm-up time has elapsed, a beeper sounds. The unit is then
in the standby mode (see chapter 3.3. "Operating Modes").
Note: The Novasina AW SPRINT has a very low power consumption,
and is designed for continuous operation. You should therefore leave
the unit switched on, even during prolonged measuring interruptions, if
at all possible, so that it is ready for measurement at any time.
The Novasina AW SPRINT has three different operating modes: the
standby mode, the analysis mode and the menu mode.
Standby mode
Whenever the unit is switched on, and after exiting the analysis or menu
mode, the unit is in the standby mode.
In the standby mode the Novasina AW SPRINT continuously measures the
water activity (aw) and the temperature (°C), and indicates the current
measured values on the display.
