Notes on correct calibration
To guarantee correct calibration, please note the following points:
– The humidity standards and sensor must be in temperature and humid-
ity equilibrium.
– The temperature must be between 15 and 30°C for a calibration.
– Major thermal fluctuations due to draught, direct sunlight, ventilation,
heat from heating systems, etc., must be avoided.
– If samples contain a heavy amount of non aqueous volatiles (eg. gly-
cerol, glycerin, acetic acid) then the measuring head should be left open
for at least 12 hours to air to let the cell recover, before applying
calibration salts.

Note: All the humidity reference points (including the 75 % point) may be
(re-)calibrated at any time, the sequence being irrelevant.
Check as follows whether a recalibration is needed or not: apply SAL-T of
any value within your range of measurement and set the stability factor to
5. Start the measurement as described in chapter 4.2. Once stabilized
(green LED "OK" lit), check the reading. If the value deviates by eg.
±0.005aw / 0.5%rh (depending on your Q-requirements) or more of the
nominal value of the salt, then recalibrate all points within the concerned
range as follows:
Open the instrument cover and remove the measuring head. Insert the
required humidity standard SAL-T.. (e.g. SAL-T33) into the measuring
chamber, then replace the measuring head and close the instrument
cover.
Wait until the sensor and humidity standard are in temperature and
humidity equilibrium (approximate time: approx. 1 hour), or set hu-
midity stability factor to 5 (see chapter 5.2) and wait for the green LED
"OK" to indicate stability.
If necessary, enable calibration functions (chapter 5.3.1).
Activate the menu mode and select main menu point "03".
Call the submenu by pressing <Enter>. The instrument automatically
recognizes which humidity standard has been inserted. The display
opposite appears with the corresponding humidity reference point.
Note: If the temperature and/or the humidity value lie outside the range
that can be calibrated, a corresponding error message appears (you will
find information on this in chapter 9).
Start automatic calibration by selecting YES and pressing <Enter>.
The instrument carries out the calibration. As soon as the calibration is
completed, the display opposite appears briefly, and the instrument then
returns automatically to the standby mode.
Repeat this procedure until all the required humidity reference points
have been calibrated.
