The sensor supplied with the Novasina AW SPRINT was factory tested,
and the measuring instrument was then calibrated at the following six
humidity reference points on this sensor: 11, 33, 53, 75, 90 and 98% rh.
Humidity sensors are subject to certain ageing phenomena which manifest
themselves in deviations from the original value. Mostly these deviations
can be compensated for by a recalibration, which is why we recommend
periodically checking of the humidity reference points, and if necessary
recalibrating of the instrument (see chapter 5).

Before starting the measurement, please note: The Novasina sensor is
a highly sensitive precision device. Please observe the following rules in
order to avoid measuring errors or even destruction of the sensor:
– Do not physically shock or dip sensors into liquids.
– If aggressive substances, acid or alkali vapours are present, the
sensors must be protected with a chemical prefilter (see chapter 7.2).
– Condensation (saturation humidity 100 %rh), which can be caused by
sudden temperature change, should be avoided.
– Sensors not in use should be stored in a dustfree, neutral atmosphere
at room temperature and ambient humidity.
– On no condition open the measuring cell!
– Under no circumstances connect the sensor to direct current (e.g.
ohmmeter).

The sensor is capable of measurements up to 1.000 aw (100%rh). A built-
in heating system protects the measuring cell from saturation, and there-
fore against destruction. The following points must be borne in mind:
– Before a material sample is inserted in the measuring chamber, and an
aw measurement is carried out, the measuring instrument must be
switched on with the sensor connected. Wait until the instrument is
ready for measurement.
Note: If possible, always leave the instrument switched on. The integrat-
ed heating protects the sensor from saturation, and the instrument is
ready for measurement at all times.
– Before the measuring instrument is switched off, always remove the ma-
terial sample from the measuring chamber first.
