When you have securely installed your satellite dish in the correct direction, connect the LNB to the measuring
instrument using a short cable (if possible only 1.5 m long). Tip: The satellite dish securing clamp should not
be fi nally tightened, so that you can still set the position of the dish for fi ne adjustment.

If a UAS 481 single cable LNB is used, the high output level that it generates must be attenuated. The
DC-resistant F attenuation plug ERE 02 (-12 dB), article no. 274855 (available as an option) is suitable for
this.

The next screen shows the measuring instrument data,
including the model, version, satellite list loaded and the battery
charge level in per cent.
The RIGHT and LEFT buttons allow you to scroll through the
available satellites until the desired satellite is displayed.
Rotate the satellite dish to the general direction of the satellite
that is sought, and slowly search the sky. At each scan, change
the height. As you search the sky and pass each satellite, the
scale value on the measuring instrument and the beep frequency
change.
As long as it has not locked on, you can use the auto-ranging
function to centre the displayed signal level again. This is
recommended for instance if a good signal level is obtained,
despite the bar being empty. To call up the auto-ranging function,
press the ON button once (twice if in locked-on mode).
As soon as you have located your satellite, the measuring
instrument tone changes and it shows "Found" on the display.
So as to obtain the highest possible S and Q values, you must
adjust the dish by means of fi ne adjustment of azimuth, elevation
and polarisation to set the optimum values for your selected
satellite. Carefully tighten the securing screws whilst monitoring
the display, to achieve the best reception quality.
The button allows the display to be toggled between
QBER (= pre-Viterbi) and VBER (= post-Viterbi).
