or wet areas. See that your work space is adequately lit.
Do not use electrical tools in the presence of inflamma-
ble fluids or gasses
• Protect yourself from electric shocks. Avoid bodily con-
tact with electrically earthed surfaces
• Deny entry to unauthorized persons. Do not allow oth-
er persons, in particular children, to participate in the
work, to touch equipment or tools or extension leads,
and do not allow them entry to the workplace.
• Lock away tools that are not being used. Tools not cur-
rently in use should be stored in a dry, locked place, out
of reach of children.
• Treat your tools gently. In this way you will be able to
carry out your work better and more quickly.
• Use the correct tools. Do not use small tools for jobs
that are better accomplished with power tools. Do not
use tools for purposes for which they were not made: for
instance do not use a circular saw to cut a log or tree
stump.
• Wear appropriate clothing. Do not wear loose clothing
or jewellery which could get caught in the moving parts.
Non-slip shoes are recommended for work out of doors.
If you have long hair, we recommend a hair net.
• Use protective gear. Wear safety glasses. Wear a face or
dust mask when dust is created in the process or saw-
ing.
• Use a dust control unit. If equipment for dust control is
available, see that it is connected and correctly used.
• Be careful with the cables. Never pull on a cable to re-
move the plug from the socket. Be careful that electrical
cables do not come into contact with heat, oil or sharp
edges.
• Make sure that your tools are securely fitted. Insofar as it
is possible, secure your tools with clamps or a vice. This
is more secure than your hands.
• Do not lean over too far. Always pay attention to a secure
position and balance.
• Be careful with your tools. Be sure that the cutting edges
are sharp and clean in order to work better and more se-
curely. Attend to the manufacturer's instructions regard-
ing lubrication and changing of accessories. Check the
main electrical lead regularly and ask an authorized cus-
tomer service agent to replace these cables should they
be damaged. Regularly check the extension leads and
replace these if they are damaged. Be sure that grips are
dry, clean and free from oil and dirt.
• Unplug your tools from the electrical source before they
are serviced or before accessories such as blades, cut-
ters and other parts are exchanged. They should also be
unplugged when not in use.
• Remove adjustment screws or clamps. Make a habit of
checking whether adjustment screws or clamps are re-
moved before the tool is switched on.
• Avoid unintentional start-ups. Check whether the on/off
switch is in "off" before plugging in the mains cable.
• Use extension leads designed for outdoor use. Should
you be using equipment out of doors, use extension
leads that are appropriate to this situation.
• Be aware. Pay attention to what you are doing. Use sim-
ple common sense and do not use this equipment when
you are tired.
• Examine damaged parts. Before you begin to work with
this equipment, you should carefully examine it to see
if it can function according to your needs. Examine the
movable parts, their position and other factors that could
influence the use of this equipment. A damaged protec-

tive guard or other defective parts should be correctly
repaired or exchanged by the customer service depart-
ment, unless this document indicates otherwise.
• Warning: the use of accessories or additional equipment
other than that which is listed in this document is not
recommended, since there is a risk of bodily harm.
• Have a qualified person repair your tools. This electrical
equipment corresponds to all the safety measures ap-
propriate to it. Repairs should only be undertaken by a
qualified person, using original replacement parts. Oth-
erwise the user increases the risk of danger.
Additional Safety Rules for Scroll Saws
• This scroll saw may only be used in a dry room and not
out of doors.
• Do not cut any materials outside of the protective cover
for the saw blade, or any materials that are too small to
be firmly held.
• Do not put your hands in insecure positions such that a
sudden movement could cause them to slip into the saw
blade.
• Always use the protective cover so that the operator can-
not be injured by a tear in the saw blade.
• Never leave the workbench when the scroll saw is on or
the machine has not come to a full stop.
• When the saw is operating, no layout, assembly or com-
pletion work should be done on the same table.
• Do not turn the scroll saw on until all objects (tools,
wood chips, etc.) save those tools and devices directly
needed for the planned work have been removed from
the table.
m Appropriate Use
This machine corresponds to the appropriate EU Machine
standards.
• The machine should be used only when it is technically
free of defects as well as under appropriate safety stand-
ards, with an awareness of the attendant risks and ac-
cording to the manufacturer's instructions! In particular
those problems which could compromise the safety of
the operator should be immediately dealt with.
• The safety, operation, and maintenance rules of the
manufacturer, as well as the technical data given for
measurements must be conformed to.
• The appropriate rules for accident avoidance as well
as other, generally recognized safety rules must be fol-
lowed.
• The machine may only be used, maintained or repaired
by persons who understand the risks involved. Independ-
ent changes in the machine invalidate the manufactur-
er's guarantees.
• The machine may only be used with original manufactur-
er's accessories and tools.
• The machine should not be exposed to moisture, nor
operated near inflammable liquids or gasses.
• Never use the machine out of doors, when the general
weather or environmental factors do not permit it (for
example in an explosive atmosphere, during a storm or
in the rain).
• Wear appropriate clothing when operating the machine.
Do not wear loose sleeves, neckerchiefs, ties, necklaces
or bracelets which could get caught in the machine.
• Always wear personal protective gear: appropriate pro-
tective glasses, work gloves in the correct size, internal
or external ear protection, and if necessary a hairnet that
covers the hair.
