• Use the power tool and accessories in accordance
with these operating instructions and only for the in-
tended purposes of the device. Do not misuse the
appliance, as this can lead to dangerous situations.
Before using the device, it must always be checked
visually to ensure that all parts are in working order
and have not been worn out. Replace faulty parts
so that the appliance can continue to be operated
without any problems.

5.6 Customer service

• Have your appliance serviced and repaired only by
trained personnel. Faulty parts must be replaced
with identical parts. This is important for the safety
of the device. This device should not be operated by
persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
abilities (including children). It should also not be
operated by people who do not have experience or
specialist knowledge, unless they are being super-
vised or instructed by someone who is responsible
for their safety.
• Children should be supervised to ensure they do not
play with the device.

5.7 Residual risks

Residual risks cannot be excluded even if the device is
used as described above. The following hazards can
arise in connection with the version and design of this
device:
• Lung damage if an effective dust mask is not worn.
• Hearing damage if effective hearing protection is not
worn.
• Damage to health due to the emission of vibrations
if the power tool
- is used for a long period of time,
- is handled improperly,
- is not serviced correctly.
m Warning The tool produces an electromagnetic field
during use. This field can interfere with active or pas-
sive medical implants under certain circumstances. In
order to reduce the risk of serious or fatal injuries, we
recommend that persons with medical implants consult
with their physician and the manufacturer of the implant
before operating this device.
5.8 Training
• Read through the instructions carefully. Familiarise
yourself with the control devices and the proper use
of the device.
• Never allow children or persons who are not familiar
with these instructions to use the device. Local reg-
ulations may restrict the age of the user.
• It should be noted that it is the user who is respon-
sible for accidents or hazards to other persons or
their property.
5.9 Preparation
• Hearing protection and safety goggles must always
be worn when operating the device.
• Before use, always inspect the connection and ex-
tension lead for signs of damage or ageing. If the
lead is damaged during use, it must be disconnected
from the mains supply immediately.
DO NOT TOUCH THE LEAD BEFORE IT IS DIS-
CONNECTED FROM THE MAINS.
Do not use the device if the lead is damaged or worn.
• Always wear sturdy footwear and long trousers
when operating the device. Do not operate the de-
vice barefoot or in light sandals. Avoid wearing loose
clothing or clothing with hanging cords or ties.
• Carefully check the area in which the device is to be
used and remove all objects that could be caught
and ejected by the device.
• Use the device only in the recommended position
and only on a firm, level surface.
• Make sure that the device cannot be operated on
paved or gravelled surfaces, where the ejection of
material can lead to injuries.
• Before switching on the device, always check that
all screws, nuts and other attachments are well se-
cured. Also make sure that all protective devices
and safety grilles are in place. Worn or damaged
labels must be replaced.
• Never operate the device while people, especially
children, or animals are nearby.
5.10 Operation
• Only work in daylight or with good, artificial lighting.
• Avoid using the device on wet grass.
• Always maintain good footing, especially on inclines.
• Walk, do not run.
• Always operate the device across a slope, never up-
wards or downwards.
• Take particular care when changing direction on a
slope.
• Do not scarify or ventilate on excessively steep
slopes.
• Take particular care when reversing the device or
pulling it towards you.
