• Avoid working on steep slopes.
• Take particular care when pulling the device back
or towards you.
• Do not pick up or carry the device when it is still run-
ning.
• Make sure that all bolts, nuts and screws are secure-
ly tightened to ensure safe working with the device.

5.3 Electrical safety

• The plug of the electrical appliance must be suitable
for the socket. Never modify the plug. Do not use
adapter plugs when using earthed electrical appli-
ances. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will
reduce risk of electric shock.
• Avoid physical contact with earthed or grounded
surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, steps and refrig-
erators. There is a high risk of electric shock if your
body comes into contact with earthed surfaces.
• Do not expose the electrical device to rain or wet
conditions. If water enters the electrical appliance,
this can lead to an electric shock.
• Do not use the power cable for any other purpose.
The cable is not a carrying device or carrying aid. Do
not pull on the cable to remove the plug from the sock-
et. Ensure that the cable is not exposed to heat, oil,
sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled
cables lead to an increased risk of electric shock.
• If the power cable of this device is damaged, it must
be replaced with a new one which can be obtained
from the manufacturer or their service department.
• If you use the power tool outdoors, use an extension
cable that is suitable for outdoor use. This reduces
the risk of electric shock.

5.4 Personal safety

• Remain attentive! Pay attention to what you are do-
ing and use your common sense when operating an
electrical device. Do not operate the electrical ap-
pliance if you are tired, under the influence of drugs
or medicine or if you have drunk alcohol. Just one
moment of carelessness can lead to the most seri-
ous injuries.
• Use safety equipment. Wear safety goggles at all
times. Wearing dust masks, anti-slip shoes, helmets
and hearing protection is appropriate in order to min-
imise injuries.
• Avoid starting the device unintentionally. Ensure that
the on/off switch is in the OFF position before con-
necting the appliance to the mains. Carrying the ap-
pliance with your fingers or when the switch is in the
ON position is dangerous and can lead to accidents.

• Remove any adjusting tools or spanners/keys before
turning the electrical device on. A tool or spanner
that is located in a rotating device part may result
in injuries.
• Avoid abnormal postures. Keep proper footing and
balance at all times. This enables better control of
the electrical device in unexpected situations.
• Make sure you wear appropriate work clothing. Do
not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Ensure that
hair, clothing and gloves do not come into contact
with the rotating and moving parts of the appliance.
Always wear good, safe shoes and long trousers
when handling the appliance. Do not use the device
barefoot or with open sandals.
• If accessories for dust extraction or dust collection
have been supplied, ensure that they are fitted and
used correctly. The use of such accessories reduc-
es the dangers associated with dust.
5.5 Use of the power tool and maintenance
• Do not use force when handling the power tool. Use
the right power tool for the work you want to do. The
right power tool makes the work step easier and safer.
• Refrain from using the power tool if the on/off switch
is defective. Any electrical tool that cannot be in-
spected is a major hazard and must therefore be
repaired immediately.
• Disconnect the device from the power supply before
- changing the settings,
- installing or removing accessories,
- storing the device.
This procedure ensures that the device is not started
unintentionally.
• Store all power tools out of the reach of children and
persons who are not familiar with their use and these
operating instructions. The power tool is dangerous
in the hands of untrained persons.
• Maintenance of the power tool: Check the appliance
before each use to ensure that there are no warped
parts and that the moving parts can move freely. If
you notice any restrictions or defects that impair the
device and its performance, please refrain from us-
ing it. The appliance must first be repaired before it
can be used again. Many accidents involving elec-
trical tools are caused because the devices are not
properly checked and repaired.
• Keep the cutting tools of the device sharp and clean.
Proper maintenance and sharpening of the cutting
tools ensures that the tool does not kick back during
use and that it can be better controlled.
