Epovac is a vacuum impreg nation
apparatus, especially de signed for
embedding and im preg na tion of po-
rous ma terials. Furthermore, Epovac
is suitable for glueing speci mens to
slides for the produc tion of thin sec-
tions. For per fect im preg na tion of
porous ma te ri als it is im por tant that
there is no air in the pores of the ma-
te ri al when the impreg nation liq uid is
applied.
The only way to ob tain this is to
im preg nate under vac u um. With
Epovac both the embed ding and the
im preg na tion is carried out quick ly
and ef fi cient ly.
Epovac is easy to operate and ex-
treme ly easy to clean.
Design
Epovac consists of a sturdy, com-
pact metal cabinet with a cy lin dri cal
em bedding chamber of PVC. The
impreg nation liquid (e.g. Struers
SpeciFix, Epofi x or Caldofi x) is sup-
plied through a dis pos a ble tube.
The tube is led through a ball joint
and, therefore, it is very easy to dis-
tribute the liq uid to the in di vid u al
em bedding moulds. The dos ing
of impreg nation liquid is done by
means of a liq uid fl ow valve. The
dosing may be ap plied dropwise.
With Epovac several specimens can
be impregnated and em bed ded at
the same time. Us ing 25 mm dia.
moulds 9 spec i mens can be em-
bed ded at the same time. Large
spec i mens can be im preg nat ed
and em bed ded in suit able moulds,
