08.01 Commissioning
RAUSIKKO Box infiltration systems should, if possible, only be commissioned after
the catchment area has been paved or landscaped.
Before commissioning an infiltration system, all connections must be checked.
When connecting the overflow of a system to the sewer system, it must be checked
whether a backflow prevention device is required.
08.02 Pre-cleaning
The rainwater to be infiltrated is to be pre-treated using a dirt / sand trap and a filter
to retain or filter out coarse and fine particles:
▪ Rainwater downpipes from roofs require a downpipe filter for installation
▪ Storm-water catchment areas require dirt traps with or without fine filters, as well
as sludge buckets with fine filters in inlet shafts
▪ Sand / sludge trap is required in the bottom area of the inlet, inspection, flushing
and throttle shafts
08.03 Site planting
RAUSIKKO Box infiltration systems must be protected from root penetration,
therefore, only shallow-rooted plants should be planted in the area.
For existing or newly planted trees, the distance between the tree trunk and the edge
of the trench should be at least half the diameter of the tree crown.
If this minimum distance cannot be maintained, the top and the side of the trench
facing the tree should be covered with a root protection membrane (provided by
the customer). The joints of the root protection membrane should overlap by
at least 0.50 m.
