Winch ABC

horntools Seilwinden stand for strength, durability and innovation in
one. In our program you will find everything from small quad winches
to truck recovery winches. Our winches are constantly being tested and
tested and further developed for offroad range.
Which winch you mount on your vehicle should be well considered.
If you use the winch to recover your vehicle, there's a rule of thumb
applies loaded vehicle weight x2. Of course, the size and weight of
the winch must be considered. With sensible accessories, such as a
pulley, the traction power of the winch can be doubled, or eventripled.

before purchasing the winch.
Safety: Be sure to read the manual before using, winches are no toys
and are life-threatening if used improperly.
Clutch: A freewheeling clutch detaches the gearbox from the rope
drum so that the rope can be pulled out quickly by hand.
Traction force: The traction is always given horizontally. The maximum
traction is reached on the first (lowest) rope position, because
when the rope rolls up to the next rope position, the diameter
of the drum is virtually increased. Comparable to the gearbox of a car:
Car: first gear a lot of power & low speed / second gear less power
& higher speed.
Winch: first rope position maximum force & lowest speed / second rope
position less force & higher speed
Battery: Choosing the right battery is very important. If the battery's
capacity is too low, the winch and your alternator can be damaged.
Consider this when buying an electric winch.
