Intended Use
3.1
Proper use
The Aqua smart is intended for the partial softening
of drinking and service water. It is also designed to
prevent malfunctions and damage caused by cal-
cification in water pipes and the connected fittings,
devices, boilers and other equipment.
The performance specifications of the unit must
match the expected usage conditions. For notes
on this, see the DIN EN 1717 standard as well as
the technical data in section 12 of these installation
and operating instructions.
If the unit is intended for a commercial application,
a BWT consultant must conduct a test and issue
an approval.
3.2
Foreseeable misuse
Operating the system with parameters other than
those specified in this documentation and in sec-
tion 3.1.
Not adhering to the prescribed maintenance and
service intervals.
Using spare parts and consumables not approved
by BWT.
3.3
Disclaimer
The manufacturer is released from any liability if the
customer intentionally or forcibly removes guards
or safety devices, if the customer wilfully modifies
or circumvents the same, or if the customer does
not follow the instructions in this operating manual
or on the system.
3.4
Other applicable documentation
Observe all documents from suppliers that were
included with delivery. These are considered part
of this documentation and must not be changed
or removed.

Function
System control unit depending on capacity re-
quirement.
3 capacity levels can be set on the control unit
meaning the system is suitable for up to 4 resi-
dential units.
The system is preset. The presetting covers the
usual fields of usage. Readjustment is needed for
special requirements.
The system works according to the principle of
intelligent regeneration.
Intelligent volume-dependent regeneration
During commissioning, the available soft water
supply is programmed in (depending on the drinking
water hardness).
At an arbitrary time (e.g. during the night), checks
are made to determine whether the remaining soft
water supply will suffice for the next day. If not, the
softening column will regenerate only the exact
percentage required to fill the soft water supply
back up to 100 %. With intelligent regeneration, no
remaining soft water supply is discarded.
This intelligent regeneration process is only pos-
sible because a precision flow volume meter can
measure out the low volumes of brine required for
partial regeneration. The use of regenerating agent
and water is reduced to the technically required
minimum.
In case of a power failure, the data and time are
preserved (approx. 1 year).
The system is equipped with a device that disin-
fects the exchanger resin during the regeneration
procedure. All water connections on the inlet side
are secured using spring-loaded return valves
(conforming to DVGW regulations).
