11. Setting up and using the product

In order to communicate with another person or
group, all PMR walkie-talkies have to use the same
channel and sub-channel. Make sure that the channel
you intend to use is not already being used by anoth-
er group.
If the channel is already being used be another group,
there are probable transmission interferences on
both sides. Find a free channel for yourself and your
partner.
Your two-way walkie-talkies are operated on PMR
446 frequencies. If you intend to use your walkie-
talkie when travelling, consult the consulate of the
respective country if operation is permissible in that
country.
After the rechargeable batteries have been inserted and completely
charged, you can operate the two walkie-talkies.
To ensure proper operation, first set the appropriate channel and
sub-channel.
The following chapters explain all functions of your walkie-talkie step
by step.

11.1 Notes on the range

The range of your walkie-talkie greatly depends on ambient condi-
tions. Maximum range is 3 km on a flat and open terrain. Small
hillocks, trees, etc. in the transmission path reduce the range to an
average. The range is lowest, if extremely leafy trees, mountains,
electric sources of interference etc. are in the transmission path.
Keep a minimum distance of 2 m between the two walkie-talkies two
prevent them from interfering with each other.
