@) SYSTEM button
Select the color system according to the
input source.
Each
time the button is
pressed, the PAL (or MESECAM), NTSCa.se
or NTSCa43
color system
is selected in
sequence.
Selection between
PAL and
MESECAM
is. automatically
performed
when the button is pressed for the PAL/
MESECANM setting.
POWER button and indicator
To turn the unit on/off.

When the AC power cord is connected,
the indicator lights dimly to indicate the
standby mode.
When the POWER button on the main
unit orthe remote control unitis pressed,
the indicator lights brightly.

® DIGITAL CONVERT indicator
The indicator lights when the CONVERTER
OUT switch is set to either the PAL or the
NTSC position.

Lights during recording and flashes during
recording pause.
@ AUTO TRACKING indicator
Whenthe AUTO TRACKING selector is set
to ON, this indicator flashes for a while and
lights during playback.

To eject a cassette from the unit.

Rewind/reverse visual search button

To rewind the tape and to operate areverse
visual search.

PLAY button (>)
To play back the tape.
Fast forward/forward visual search but-
ton (¢3 /F FWD/)
To fast forward the tape and to operate a
forward visual search.
STOP button (@)
To stop the tape.
PAUSE/STILL/NOISE CANCEL button
(Il mid)
To temporarily stop the tape during play-
back or recording. When you get a still
picture in the MESECAM
system, press
this button to move the noise lines. Press
the B® PLAY or RECORD button to resume
playback or recording respectively.
RECORD button
To start recording.
AUTO TRACKING
selector (OFF/MAN-
UAL, ON)
To select the auto or manual tracking con-
trol mode. Normally set this selector to ON.
To adjust tracking manually, set this selec-
tor to OFF/MANUAL, and use the TRACK-
ING —/+ buttons on the remote control unit.
CONVERTER OUT switch
To convert playback signals into the PAL or
NTSCass system and to supply the signals
to equipment connected to the rear line
outputs. When
the CONVERTER
OUT
switch is set to either the PAL or the NTSC
position, the "DIGITAL CONVERT" indica-
tor lights. When the switch is set to THRU,
signals are output without system conver-
sion.
Note:
MESECAM
signals cannot
be
converted into either PAL or NTSC color
signals. (They are converted into NTSC
black-and-white
signals with the CON-
VERTER OUT switch set at NTSC.)
