LECTURE —
Press Il Bid PAUSE/STILL/NOISE CANCEL
during playback. The picture will "freeze" on
the screen. You may use this feature to study
the details of a particular scene.
To return to normal playback, press B PLAY.
e¢ When the still picture mode lasts for more
than
5 minutes,
the unit automatically
changes to the stop mode to protect the
tape.
Note on MESECAM playback
« The still picture may shake if the transition
between pictures or a fast-motion picture is
frozen.
e While you can obtain a digitally processed
stable still picture with the PAL and NTSC
systems, some video noise lines may be
observed with the MESECAM system.
To move video noise lines on the screen
down for a clearer picture, keep pressing
the I Bid PAUSE/STILL/NOISE CANCEL
button, or press it repeatedly in the still
picture mode until the best picture is ob-
tained. 7:2
e The video noise lines may not be removed
completely
depending
on the recording
quality of the tape.
e With an SP speed tape, many noise lines
may appear. This does not indicate a prob-
lem with the unit.

This feature is used for locating a particular
section of a tape quickly.
During playback, press ©3/F FWD/®
mo-
mentarily to view the tape at a fast speed in the
forward direction, or <<4/REW/é9 to view the
tape at a fast speed in the reverse direction.
The sound will be muted. To return to normal
playback, press B PLAY.

is held
down, the visual search continues while the
button is pressed and normal playback is
resumed when the button is released.
Note
e Noise lines will appear during the visual
search operation. This is not a failure of the
unit.
e With an SP speed tape, the noise lines may
be distinctively large and the picture may be
monochrome
or distorted. This does not
indicate a problem with the unit.
e The noise line positions can be shifted by
pressing the TRACKING —/+ buttons on the
remote control unit repeatedly. The noise
lines do not move when the buttons are held
down.
¢ The visual search may not be carried out
correctly depending on the TV.
e If the built-in digital converter is activated
(page 18), the picture may be extremely
poor during visual search. Inthe worst case,
the whole picture may be black.
You can easily search for the beginning of a
program.
1. Insert a cassette recorded by this unit.
2. Press ©3/F FWD/®®
or <<4/REW/@
while pressing B» PLAY on the unit.
The unit enters the cue or review mode and
stops when the index signal is detected.
Note
e The index search can be performed only
with the buttons on the unit.
e Anindex signal is marked on the tape when
RECORD is pressed in the stop mode.
¢ No index signal is marked on the tape when
RECORD is pressed in the recording pause
mode.

Remarque sur la lecture MESECAM
e L'image fixe risque de sautiller si la transi-
tion entre les images est gelée ou si des
images
bougeant
rapidement
sont
immobilisées.
e Il est possible d'obtenir une image gelée
traitée numériquement dans les systemes
PAL et NTSC, mais des bandes de bruit
vidéo peuvent apparaitre sur les bandes
reproduites dans le systeme MESECAM.
Pour déplacer les bandes de parasites vers
le bas de l'écran afin d'améliorer la netteté
de l'image,
maintenir
la touche Hl Dix
PAUSE/STILL/NOISE
CANCEL enfoncée
ou appuyer dessus de fagon répétée en
mode de l'image fixe jusqu'a ce que l'image
soit satisfaisante. [7-2]
e Les bandes de parasites vidéo ne peuvent
&tre enlevées complétement selon la qualité
de la bande.
e Dans le cas d'une cassette enregistrée ala
vitesse SP, des bandes de parasites risquent
d'apparaitre. Ce n'est pas une défaillance
de l'appareil.
Cette fonction sert a trouver rapidement une
partie spécifique de la bande.
