The Miller HandZup® length adjuster is certified only with the Miller HandZup® rope lanyards
supplied by Miller® by Honeywell (see Appendix 1) . Never use the Miller HandZup® length ad-
juster with another type of rope .
Procedure for changing the rope lanyard:
Refer to the figures shown at the beginning of the manual for the sequence of operations.
See figure 12.
It is recommended that the Miller HandZup® length adjuster be disconnected from the safety
belt or harness belt to replace the rope lanyard more easily.
Remove the slide locking screw with a screwdriver equipped with an appropriate tamper-proof
driver bit.
With the left index finger, push the cam to release the slide. Take hold of it with your right hand
and open as far as possible (about 70°).
With your right hand hold the slide open.
Using your left hand release the rope lanyard from the cam.
Then take it out of the length adjuster.
Take the replacement rope lanyard and insert it into the length adjuster.
ENSURE THE LENGTH ADJUSTER IS FITTED THE CORRECT WAY AROUND ON THE ROPE SO THAT
IT LOCKS ONTO THE ROPE UNDER TENSION . WHEN CORRECTLY FITTED, THE KARABINER OF
THE LENGTH ADJUSTER IS POSITIONED AT THE SAME END AS THE KARABINER OF THE ROPE .
Place the rope lanyard around the cam, ensuring it is held close to the bottom of the slide.
Release the slide and ensure it is completely closed while holding the rope lanyard.
Replace the locking screw if necessary (optional).
Reconnect the length adjuster on the D of the belt or harness belt.
Check the locking/release at ground level.
This procedure is valid for any type of rope lanyard (100% textile or reinforced, from 2 to 40 metres, all
types of karabiner). Refer to Appendix 1 to see the full range available.
5-4 REPLACING THE SHEATH
If there is a protective sheath on the rope lanyard and it must be replaced, proceed as follows:
If there is a removable karabiner at the end of the rope lanyard, remove it and slide the sheath off
the rope lanyard. Perform the reverse with the new sleeve and replace the karabiner.
If the karabiner is not removable, pull the length adjuster rope lanyard (see paragraph 5-3) and
slide the sheath along the rope lanyard towards the stop. Perform the operation in reverse with
the new sleeve. See figure 12.
