Use
3.1
Proper use
The Bewades MQ units are designed to treat bathing water. When used
to treat bathing water, not only the water is disinfected, but levels of
bound chlorine are also reduced considerably.
Elevated levels of bound chlorine cause swimmers' and bathers' eyes
to become red and can lead to breathing problems. The unit is easy to
integrate into the treatment system due to its compact size.
It is integrated into the main flow downstream of the filter and upstream
of the chlorine dosage or pH regulation.
3.2
Foreseeable misuse
Operating the unit with systems other than those specified in this do-
cumentation.
Failure to comply with the operating and ambient conditions specified
in section 12.
Not adhering to the prescribed maintenance and service intervals.
Using spare parts and consumables not approved by BWT.
3.3
Disclaimer
The manufacturer is released from any liability if the customer intentio-
nally or forcibly removes guards or safety devices, if the customer wilfully
modifies or circumvents the same, or if the customer does not follow the
instructions in this operating manual or on the system.
3.4
Other applicable documentation
Observe all documents from suppliers that were included with delive-
ry. These are considered part of this documentation and must not be
changed or removed.

Function
The unit is equipped with a special UVC lamp. This lamp emits a broad
spectrum in the UVC range which guarantees the degradation of bound
chlorine.
The radiation chamber should be installed horizontal or vertical into the
piping system. A vertical installation is only possible when the water
flow is from the bottom up and the position of the temperature sensor
is changed on the upper flange.
The lamp is orientated perpendicular to the water flow.
The unit comprises a stainless steel chamber.
The lamp is installed in a quartz glass protection tube.
Unit monitoring
The operating temperature of the unit is monitored continuously by the
controller. If the operating temperature exceeds 70 °C (e.g. if the water
flow ceases), the unit switches off.
Frequently switching on and off the unit leads to a reduced lifetime of
the UV lamp
Units with more than one lamp
At units with more than one lamp lamps could be switched on and off
in groups.
At units with two lamps each group represents one lamp.
At units with three lamps one group consist of two lamps the other group
consists of one lamp.
At units with four lamps each group consists of two lamps.
Cleaning the quartz glass tubes
Depending on the water quality and operating conditions, a slower or
faster defilement of the quartz glass tubes will occur.
Without cleaning device, the quartz glass tubes must be disassembled
and cleaned by hand in periodical intervals
We strongly recommend the usage of a cleaning device.
4.1
Description of the options:
Manual cleaning device (option I)
A manual cleaning device is compatible with all unit types.
During manual cleaning (at least once per day) a manually operated
wiper is repeatedly moved backwards and forwards on the quartz glass
tube and so removes thereby the deposits.
Cleaning should be done only, if the unit is in circulation process.
