Maintenance of the VDO LOGIC Autopilot
The display unit is maintenance-free. Use a moist, non-fraying or antistatic cloth to clean the display unit.
Do not use cleaning agents.
Installation of the VDO LOGIC Autopilot display unit
Before you start installation, please read the notes on safety on page 4 and the installation
instructions for all the corresponding system components.
For the following installation steps, please see the installation instructions for the VDO Pilot Box 619:
- Connection of compass probe, rudder position sensor, hydraulic pump or linear drive to the VDO
Pilot Box 619.
On conclusion of the installation work, the following settings have to be made:
- Settings before the first test run.
- Test run with compass calibration and rudder centring.
- Configuration with individual fine adjustment of the autopilot to match your vessel.
For safety reasons, the VDO LOGIC autopilot display unit must always be within the reach of the responsible
helmsman, so that it can be switched off rapidly if necessary. Mount the display unit at a suitable location.
Installation of the display unit

Affix the drilling template supplied at a suitable position.

Drill the holes required.

Slowly detach the template.

Thoroughly clean the mounting surface before fitting the display unit. Remove the drilling chips.

Lay the black neoprene mat supplied on the back of the unit.

Screw in the set screws and connect the wiring as shown on the terminal diagram (see "Electrical
installation"), and then insert the display unit in the recess.

Fasten the display unit by tightening the knurled nuts.
Ensure that the knurled nuts are only hand-tightened.
The drilling template is designed in such a way that when further VDO LOGIC instruments are installed there
is sufficient space between the display units for the white protective cover to be fitted.
