Automatic compensation can be aborted by pressing the ENTER key. The display then shows "Cleared".
If certain events (e.g. another vessel crossing your course) prevent the deviation compensation from being
completed, you can interrupt it at any time by pressing the ENTER key.
Pressing the ENTER key again switches the display unit to standby operation.
Perform the deviation compensation process again at a different location if necessary.
When deviation compensation has been successfully completed ("Dev ok"), a further compensation process
can only take place after the system has been switched off and on again.
Automatic deviation compensation should be performed after the compass has been installed, after
each launch, in advance of long tours, after welding work and after the installation of electrical
machines, and at least once each year.
In steel vessels, please also take account of the effect of "semi-permanent magnetism". This occurs
when the vessel has been exposed for a relatively long period (e.g. winter storage) to the inductive
effect of the earth's magnetic field in the same direction. After a few days in the water, this effect
disappears again. For that reason, deviation compensation should only be performed some days
after the launch of a steel vessel.
Saving the settings (Save)
Every change in settings is immediately effective when the entry has been confirmed by pressing the ENTER
key. To save the settings permanently, the Save function has to be performed before the system is switched
off. The only exception is the automatic deviation compensation (AutoDev).
All the control keys on the display unit are now blocked. Switch the power supply to the system off.
