The PILOT / STANDBY key
When the power supply is switched on, the display shows "wait" for approx. 2 seconds. The autopilot is in
standby mode and the pointer indicates the rudder position on the lower scale of the dial.
In this operating mode, you have to steer the vessel yourself.
The LC display shows the following:
[xxx°= course steered]
COMPASS mode is always selected when the power is switched on.
The letter S indicates that the system is on standby. The WIND or NAV modes can be selected with the MODE
key. The LC display then shows
accordingly.
Pressing the PILOT/STANDBY key will then switch the system from standby to pilot operation, in which it
actively takes over the steering of your vessel. The pointer moves to the upper scale on the dial and indicates
the course deviation (OFF COURSE).
The electronic controller activates the hydraulic pump or linear drive when necessary to effect the required
course corrections.
The LC display shows:
or
or
[xxx°= heading, wind angle or course between two marks]
The letter P indicates that the system is in pilot mode.
In pilot operation, the angle shown on the display in COMPASS and WIND modes can be changed by pressing
one of the ARROW keys.
Pressing the ARROW RIGHT key changes the set course in the starboard direction, and pressing the ARROW
LEFT key changes the set course in the port direction.
If the course is set by a satellite navigator, however, the angle shown on the display cannot be altered, as
the display represents the course between two points.
You can use the PILOT/STANDBY key to switch between pilot operation and standby, provided that the unit
has power.
Activation and deactivation of the autopilot are the responsibility of the helmsman, and may only
be performed by that person.
