Setting the rudder factor (Rud)
The rudder factor can be set both in standby and in pilot operation.
The optimum setting for this factor is dependent on the type of vessel and the speed at which it sails.
Proceed as follows to set the rudder factor:

The rudder factor can be set in a range of 0 to 20.
Setting the rudder response band (Resp)
This setting can be made in both standby and pilot operation. The setting for the rudder response band
indicates the time in which the autopilot starts to react.

Examples for setting of the rudder factor:
1.
Rudder factor too small:
The vessel takes too long to return to the specified course.
2.
Rudder factor correctly set.
3.
Rudder factor too large:
The vessel slowly "swings" onto the specified course.
Extreme cases:
1.
Rudder factor much too large:
The vessel starts to weave around the specified course.
2.
Rudder factor much too small:
The vessel deviates from the specified course.
