1. Introduction
CleanAIR
– powered air purifying respirators
®
CleanAIR
is a personal respiratory protection system based on the prin-
®
ciple of overpressure of filtered air in the breathing zone. The powered
air purifying respirator (hereinafter referred to as the "PAPR") is a battery
powered portable fan unit which drives the air taken from the surrounding
environment through a particulate or gas/vapour filter and blows it to the
protective headtop. The resulting overpressure prevents contaminants
from entering the breathing zone. At the same time the mild overpressure
ensures high user´s comfort even when worn for a long time as there is
no need to overcome the breathing resistance of the filter.
To ensure required protection and maximum safety, it is necessary to
choose the right combination of PAPR and protective headtop appropriate
to intended task/application.
It is also essential to choose proper filters in accordance with the type and
concentration of the contaminants in the workplace.
CleanAIR
AerGO
is designed to be used with a relevant CleanAIR
®
®
headtop and CleanAIR
system in accordance with EN 12941.
Depending on the type of the filters used, it provides protection against harm-
ful particulate contaminants, harmful gases / vapours or its combinations.
The CleanAIR
AerGO
®
ance with the instructions provided in this manual.
This product has been assessed and found to be in accordance with the es-
sential health and safety requirements of Regulation (EU) 2016/425 of the
European Parliament and the Council on personal protective equipment.
2. Instructions for use
PLEASE CAREFULLY READ AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS
IN THIS USER MANUAL. THE USER MUST BE PERFECTLY
FAMILIAR WITH THE CORRECT WAY OF USING THIS
PROTECTIVE DEVICE.
• The AerGO
respiratory system must not be used if the unit is switched
®
off! In this case the respiratory system gives a little or no respiratory pro-
tection. As well there is a risk of a high concentration of carbon dioxide
(CO
) building up and of oxygen deficiency occurring inside the head-
2
piece when switched off.
• The AerGO
respiratory system must not be used if the respirator does
®
not supply a sufficient amount of air. The user is warned of low air flow
by the PAPR´s warning system.
• The AerGO
respiratory system must not be used in environments im-
®
mediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH)!
• The AerGO
respiratory system must not be used in environments with
®
a concentration of oxygen lower than 17%.
• The AerGO
respiratory system must not be used in environments in
®
which the user does not know the type of contamination or its concen-
tration.
• The AerGO
respiratory system must not be used in environments with
®
a danger of explosion or fire hazard.
• The AerGO
respiratory system must not be used in confined spaces
®
such as closed tanks, tunnels or channels.
• Before each use, check the air flow with the enclosed flow indicator. The
flow rate is insufficient if the top edge of the cone is in the red zone (see
Section 3.5. "Air flow test").
• If the PAPR unit stops working for any reason during use, the user must
leave the contaminated area immediately.
• During strenuous work, if the user's breathing becomes too intensive,
the positive pressure inside the hood may decrease and result in a de-
crease in the protection factor.

system and its parts can only be used in compli-
®
• Worn headtops must fit tightly onto face to ensure the declared level
of protection for the wearer. If a beard or long hair interferes with the
sealing line, the protection provided by the system may be negatively
affected.
THE STANDARD CONFIGURATION OF THE AERGO
SYSTEM CONTAINS HIGH EFFICIENT P R SL FILTERS
PROVIDING PROTECTION AGAINST HARMFUL
PARTICLES. THE P R SL FILTERS DO NOT PROTECT
AGAINST PARTICLES AND GASES/VAPOURS!
• Combined filters must be used for working environments contaminated
by both types of contaminants.
• Replace filters any time you feel a change in the smell of the air coming
out of the unit.
• Use only genuine CleanAIR
NOT FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN BY THIS
MANUAL WILL INVALIDATE THE WARRANTY!
3. Unpacking / Assembly
3.1. Unpacking
Check that the delivery is complete and that no damage was caused
during transport. The complete system including accessories contains the
following components:
PAPR unit CA AerGO
with belt and P R SL filters
®
Battery
Battery charger
Air flow indicator
®
User manual
3.2. Assembly
1.
Take the PAPR out of the package and connect the battery to the unit.
2.
Check the filters and tighten them if necessary.
3.
Attach the air hose to the PAPR.
4.
Connect the hose to the headtop.
3.3. Use and function
Switching ON
Turn the AerGO
ON by pressing the button (picture annex 1.6) for at least
®
1 second.
Switching OFF
Turn the AerGO
OFF by pressing the button (picture annex 1.6) for at
®
least 2 seconds.
Air flow settings
Choose your prefered air flow by briefly pressing the button (picture annex
1.6). Each press changes the air flow by one step – 160 / 175 / 190 / 210 lpm.
The AerGO
contains an electronic system maintaining the chosen air
®
flow constant regardless the filter clogging or battery charge status.
If the PAPR is no longer able to maintain the selected air flow, it will au-
tomatically switch over to a lower air flow and keeps maintaining it. This
process is repeated until the PAPR reaches the minimum air flow level.
In that case, the audiovisual and vibrating alarm is triggered and the user
must leave the contaminated area immediately.
Air flow compensation depending on altitude
Thanks to an in-built barometric sensor the AerGO
stant air flow regardless the altitude. The automatic air flow compensation
works from -500 m up to 4500 m.
LED control panel
All the relevant informations are continuoulsy displayed on the LED con-
trol panel.
Particle filter clogging
The upper LED line indicates the current level of filter clogging. More
LEDs light up as the filters become more clogged.
