Parameterizing the Headslot
Double-click on the Headslot to open the parameters.
The port and diagnosis settings can be defined in the
window via a menu.

Port functionality
Here, the function for each individual port pin can be
defined:
Function Description
Normally Open Input as normally open contact
(NO)
Normally Closed Input as normally closed contact
(NC)
Diagnostic input Input as diagnostic input (only
available for Pin 2). The LED lights
up red if there is no signal.
Output The pin is configured as a
switchable output.

Safe state
The Safe state function is an extension of the respective
port pin's output configuration.
For each port pin, a safe state can be pre-defined, which
should be adopted in the case of a loss of bus
communication.

Output current setting pin 2/4
This function allows you to set the output current at the
port for the following pins:
– Pin 2 (1 A/2 A/4 A)
– Pin 4 (1 A/2 A)
The function for setting the output current is not
available on the BNI PNT-502-102-Z078.

IO-Link configuration:

If the connected IO-Link device provides outputs,
Pin 2 at the corresponding port must be
configured as an output.
When using device-specific modules from the
device catalog (e.g. BNI IOL-302-S02-_ _ _ _), the
use of the validation function is recommended.
This will ensure that no incorrect devices can be
connected, which are otherwise accepted if the
process data parameters are correct. This rules
out any undesired misconfiguration.
