3.3.1 ADJUSTING THE SEEDING DEPTH

FOR ELEMENTS WITH CAST IRON WHEELS
To obtain a good level at which sprouts come out, the seed
needs to be placed at the right depth into the seeding bed.
The depth of the seed placement correctly determined when
the ballast on the side of the disck leans on the ground (fig. 12
rif. 1).
Important! Before seeding always make sure that the
machine places the seeds at the desired depth.
There are 2 ways to mache adjustments:
a) By modifying the relative position between colter
depositor and furrow opener disk, acting on the colter
fastening screws (fig. 12 rif. 3) and moving it to the desired
height (fig. 12 rif. 2).
IMPORTANT: The inferior hedge of the coulter should never
be adjusted deeper than the internal profile of the toothed
disk (that is: all inner side of the coulter should always lay
against the disk when this is rotating) (fig. 12). When
tightening the screws, make sure they are tightened evenly
so that the cutting edge of the colter adheres perfectly to
the disk surface without interfering with its rotation.
b) OPTIONAL: By assembling a supplementary ring on the
side ballast, to reduce the depth of the seeding, the ring is
to be fixed to the 4 holes already set on the ballast.
FOR ELEMENTS WITH TYRES
To obtain a good level at which sprouts come out, the seed
needs to be placed at the right depth into the seeding bed.
The seed placing depth is properly determined when the tyre
laterally to the disc rests on the ground. In order to adjust the
seeding depth, proceed as follows (fig. 13):
1 ) Extract the pin (1)
2 ) Hoist or lower the wheel (2) to reach the desired position
depending on the seeding type and based on the available
holes
3 ) Reinsert the pin (1) by fastening it with the split pin.
Do not act on the colter to adjust the depth with tyres
ADJUSTING THE POSITION SPRINGS
1 ) Each adjustment must be made on the field with an average
load of the machine.
2 ) With the tractor moving in forward direction, place the
machine in the operating position with the discs sunk into
the ground.
3 ) Check that the element is in an intermediate stroke position.
4 ) If necessary adjust all the position springs by means of the
nut (4 fig. 12) until you reach the position described at point
(3).
5 ) Make sure that the machine is operating with a horizontal
frame; only in that position can the machine load be equally
distributed between the two series of seeding elements.
