1 . Important notes concerning this operating manual

1 .1 Validity

This operating manual is valid for all individually configured Simplifier BOX modules that
are assembled and wired by the operator.

1 .2 Purpose of this document

This operating manual contains all information required for the installation, commissioning,
operation, maintenance and decommissioning of the product. You must read and understand
this operating manual before you put the Simplifier BOX into operation. Always keep this
operating manual accessible to all users throughout the entire service life of the product. This
operating manual must be updated with each amendment received from the manufacturer
and passed on to each subsequent owner and user of the product.

1 .3 Target group

The tasks described in this operating manual may only be carried out by corresponding
trained skilled personnel authorized by the plant owner.

1 .4 General regulations

Familiarize yourself with the applicable regulations and rules regarding occupational safety
and accident prevention. For installation, commissioning, safe operation, as well as for regular
technical inspections, the (inter)national legal regulations apply.
In particular:
- the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
- the Low Voltage Directive 2006/95/EG
- the safety regulations and
- the accident prevention regulations and safety rules

2 . Product Description

2 .1 Intended use

The product may only be used in industrial applications. The product has been developed
to be a part of an overall system or machine for safety-related application in process and
automation technology. The manufacturer of the plant or machine is responsible for ensuring
the correct overall function of the system.
If additional devices are installed and used to implement a safety function, the operating
manuals for the corresponding devices must also be observed.

2 .2 Non-intended use

Danger to persons or damage to parts of machines or installations can arise as a result of
inappropriate/ incorrect use or manipulations. It is prohibited to use with Simplifier BOX
spare parts or accessories, which have not been expressly approved by the manufacturer.

2 .3 Residual hazards

If the safety notes and the instructions regarding installation, commissioning, operation,
maintenance and decommissioning are observed, there are no known residual hazards.

2 .4 Configuration variants

The Simplifier BOX is available in different, already pre-configured, assembled and tested
configuration variants. Furthermore, individual configuration variants can be created in the
online configurator at www.safety-products.de.
Please note that for the individual configuration variants, the wiring/cabling must in most
cases be carried out by the end user (in accordance with local guidelines and standards).
