Remove the rope from counterweight by undoing the screw (ref.
1), pushing the rope towards the hook and then taking out the
wedge (ref. 3) and freeing the rope.
The drum is fitted with a device to make two turns of rope stay
completely wound even when the rope is entirely unwound; this
prevents forcing the point of connection of the rope.
When changing the rope, the new one must be fitted in this way.
Fully unwind the rope down to the last two turns that are always
wound. Using a screwdriver, through the hole in the aluminium
casting, loosen the screw ref. 2 so as to free the slot, make the
rope come out of the slot and unwind all of it including the last two
turns that normally stay wound. Again using the screwdriver, now
loosen the screw ref. 1 and extract the end of the rope from its
seat in the drum.
Insert the end of the new rope (pressed terminal DIN 3093) into its
seat in the drum, put it under tension and tighten the screw ref. 1 to
lock it. Following the grooves on the drum and keeping the rope
under tension, wind on the first two turns. When you get to pass
the rope over the slot in the drum, insert the rope into the slot and
make it come back out, tightening the screw ref. 2 so that the rope
stays underneath. Keep on winding the rest of the rope correctly,
one turn against the next in successive layers with no overlaps or
gaps, especially when changing direction.
When the new rope is fully wound on the drum, reconnect the free
end to the counterweight, passing it through the two plates ref. 6
and the spring ref. 7, then into the seat of the wedge in the
counterweight and then in the hole ref. A. Put the rope under tension
so that the wedge slots into the counterweight and locks it. Tighten
the screw ref. 1. With this sequence you know that the rope is
secured by the wedge ref. 3 and not by the screw ref. 1.

8.1.2 PERIODIC CHECKS

- Inspect the state of the rope every day and whenever
there is any abnormal strain (twisting, kinks, bending or
rubbing).
Change the rope if there are any of the defects indicated in Fig. 12.
Carefully inspect the entire rope, especially its ends, every three
months and record the results in the chart in the manual Tab.2 that
must be kept by the person in charge of the site.
Change the rope at least once a year.
8.2 ADJUSTING THE MOTOR BRAKE (Fig. 6)
The mechanically operated disc brake engages if there is no power
to the magnetic opening device.
If there is a reduction in braking capacity, the service engineer
must check the equipment and, if necessary, adjust it.
- Caution. Before working on the brake make sure that
the load has been removed and the mains plug disconnected.
Remove the fan cover (A), adjust the gap (d) between the magnet
(B) and the brake disc (C) using a feeler
gauge: The gap (d) must be 0.4 mm.
The measurement must be made at
three different points so as to check
the alignment of the disc, sliding the
feeler gauge slightly back and forth. If
the gap is too big, reduce it by tightening
the nut (D) with a hex wrench. If the
gap is small, increase it by unscrewing
the nut (D). Measure the new distance
(d) several times. When the distance
has been adjusted as above, fit the cover
(A) back on.
After making the adjustment, repeatedly
test the brakes under a full load.
8.3 GEARMOTOR LUBRICATION
No oil must leak from the gearmotor assembly: any obvious leaks

may mean damage to the aluminium structure. In this case, seal or
replace the casing immediately.

When topping up, use the cap on the reduction gear. The oil level
must cover half the sight glass. The oil should be changed after
approximately 2000 hours of work. Use gear oil of ISO VG 460
viscosity at 40°C.

8.4 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Check the integrity of the insulating casing of the push-button panel.
If its seal is damaged, replace it with a genuine IMER spare part.
